Cheltenham Racecourse today announced that it is seeking a new sponsor for the Foxhunter Chase after it was revealed that Christie's, the world famous auctioneers, has stepped down as a sponsor at The Festival after a 34-year tenure following the end of the current three-year deal.

Winners of the historic race under the Christie's banner range from Grittar and Spartan Missile in the early days, through Double Silk and Earthmover, who both won twice, to recent stars such as Baby Run and Salsify.

Peter McNeile, Director of Sponsorship at Cheltenham, said: "It has been a joy to

have the support of such a well-known and successful brand for so long at the Festival.

"Christie's has been an excellent partner for this iconic race, but we will now begin the process of talking to other interested parties and recruiting a new sponsor for a prize that has been in existence since 1904, some 20 years before the Cheltenham Gold Cup was first run
