Very hard nowadays with the jewson, but the feeling for Simonsig seems to be the Arkle.
For OW, who knows with Dai Walters? Gold Cup? ![]() |

Simonsig is the best novice I have seen since Barton, I'll be accused of getting carried away, but he is a total machine IMO. If he strengthens, grows, fills out and jumps, the world could be his oyster.

He looks a wonderful prospect and he still has a lot of growing to do. He's tall but not yet big - if he fills in to his frame he could be a monster. Henderson really has an outstanding crop of promising young horses.

word on track was that Darlan off chasing too, arkle bound

Interesting - he's only a baby.

guess they feel why waste time, doubt he can win CH so why not a nice long chasing career

Would have been a contender for the top 2 m handicap hurdles though, at least before yesterday.

Oscar Whisky 14s for Arkle a little big I would suggest but if a horse is made for jewson probably him.

Simonsig will need further in time but will be Arkle bound next year

Bit disappointed they are going chasing with Simonsig, looks a Champion Hurdle winner in waiting to me. High cruising speed and decent amount of stamina would make him tailor made for the race imo. If they go chasing he wins the Arkle then has to clash with Sprinter Sacre the following year in the QM, or else goes for the Ryanair. Don't think he will stay 3m2f for the Gold Cup, so personally think they are wasting the chance of landing the Champion Hurdle (at least once).

simonsig has an excellent travelling speed but looked to me once or two as if he wants a fence, in that he's jumped his hurdles 'big' and nearly made a mess, he isn't low and nimble over them anyway. taking nothing away from him, would be interesting to see him in open company anyway.
would just keep oscar over hurdles, he's good enough to be placed in champion hurdles, he could win a few more of the 2m4 races at liverpool too. would be very hard to beat between 17 and 20f. |

Dai Walters has great ambitions for the horse though - greater than it's apparent ability, unfortunately.

Anyone else have a theory on this - general idea that if horses don't hurdle entirely fluently then they are unlikely to jump any more soundly over fences. Thoughts?

whats wrong with Oscar??
