We stayed in Naunton in a cottage for 4 about 2 and a half miles from Guiting Power the home of the Hollow Bottom.
Monday - drinks in the Black Horse before dinner (once they let us back in @ 6). Curry back at cottage. Back to (lacking in atmosphere) BH before fantastic lift with N (you know you are) via Twisters yard to the HB. Met Bindaree and Hello Bud on the way. Carl L and all the boys in the pub bit of a laugh and back by 12. Thanks N.
Tuesday - decided to walk to HB as booked on the HB 11.45 bus to the course only to remember left tickets behind (halfway by now). Rang cottage owner who would have helped had she not been in Budapest! Alan at HB arranged lift back - all sorted quick couple of pints and off we go ....racing .....hour wait for mini bus steak and chips and early night.
Wednesday - Golden Miller Day - lift to track - quick drink Montpellier Wine Bar- then Wetherspoons for a couple of cheapies ( what are those girls in their like - swear I saw 2 Lady Gagas ). Pizza Express lunch then ya ya all afternoon in Golden Miller . Taxi back to HB and on we go. Met Twister, Carl (obviously), Hobbsy( Daft Dad dancing) and Mrs Hobbsy (lovely) + somewhat surreally Gladstone Small (top man). Danced poorly with impossibly attractive women before talking **** for a couple of hours. May have agreed a date for Ladies Day at Aintree. HB bus to Naunton then bed.
Thursday - home. Looking forward to next year and Aintree.
Stayed in Stow on the Wold for the first time this year - utterly superb.
Met Alistair Down (Having a 'Gasper') outside The Old Butchers Shop Restaurant on Monday evening. Great crack in the Prince of India and Kings Arms (?) and a great gym and swimming pool complex in Bourton On The Water too, with only a cr@p meal and service at The Talbot as any kind of negative on the place.
Definitely going back there next year.
