Hard to say really. SDS had an easier race to win but did it very easily. First Lieutenant & Bobs Worth look to be serious horses too.

both performed beautifully
be nice to see them race each other |

Was about to post the same judo, out of interest - raceform time figures were 120 SDC and 117 BW. Top speed has SDC 13lbs ahead. RPRs SDC 1lb ahead 167 to 166. The RPRs look a little inflated to me, in both cases, but nontheless very good.

RPR inflates lots of ratings thieves - they are useful only in handicaps imo
The Jewson looked a faster run race |

SDS won easily under a very confident ride. BW had a far tougher race but he is incredibly genuine and he keeps finding. I get the impression that he surprises NH more than anyone, so who knows?

im not blown away by the SDC hype 2 time festival winner i know, but he,s taken the weaker races, if he,s so good why is he not in the grade 1s, i think the gold cup prices available for him are comical, how many martin pipe hurdle winners have even run in a gold cup???

They have some chasers alright: Sir Des Champs, Last Instalment, First Lieutenant, Bog Warrior, also Weapons Amnesty and Quito.
I think Quito had a raw deal this season. He was rushed for the James Nicholson at Down Royal, and for the life of me I don't know why. He was only half fit and had an awful hard race, hasn't been right since. This year's Gold Cup was probably more winnable than next year's will be, and the way the race panned out I think an on song Quito would have won it. It actually upsets me that they bal1sed up his season ![]() Rant over... |

None yet, obviously. given it was only introduced 3 years ago but this year's Gold Cup winner did run in a Pertemps final off 137, I'm pretty sure if he'd run in the inaugural Pipe race instead that it wouldn't have stopped him on Friday. |
