think BJG has said something on his blog about the Ryanair for FR! Dunno if it's tongue in cheek but very likely given the presence of Sprinter Sacre in the Champion Chase..

eric im suree hendo had finians entered for th gold cup this yar ,they were toying with th ida of trying him over further ,and with sprinter looking a natural for the top 2m races id say finians will be over further sooner than later ,will have a look at his pedigree .

Doesn't Sprinter work all over Finian?
Was it Mr Buckley himself said that Sprinter would wint the QM this year if he went for it? |
|
By:
or you could be on Sprinter next year @ 14's like some shrewdies :-)

Sprinter is a much better prospect so I think they will step Finian's up in trip. Sprinter would have won the Champion Chase if he was in the race this year. I can see 4 or 5 runners in next years race as they all run scared. Mccain certainly won't have one against it

If the Henderson team has one major flaw, it is thinking their horses will stay further than they do. So I'd take FR's gold cup entry with a very large pinch of salt. What happens if FR tries 2m 4f next season and doesn't stay? The owner thinks SS can win the King George. What happens if he steps up in trip and wins? What happens if he wins the King George?

Finian's wont stay longer trips Sprinter Sacre will imo. Sprinter Sacre could canter a lot further before emptying the 2m trip seems right at the bottom of his stamina range for me. Albeit let him do an unambitious Frankel routine it would be a lot more interesting if they stepped him up. Finian's could win it again at his age the stable have the Queen Mother covered already.

Finian's wouldn't get the trip, Sprinter will win a Champion Chase before they think about anything else. Sir Des Champs is the one to get onside

Two words re run for your money ... Quel Esprit.
6/4 Sprinter Sacre, the antepost cupboard is empty. |
|
By:
Sprinter Sacre will obviously get further than the 2 miles
obviously? Sprinter much classier at 2m and will be their no 1 in that division nxt season |
|

Isn't Finians Rainbow going to run in the Melling Chase next at Aintree ? I'd love it if Sizing Europe showed up aswell.

I'd imagine they wil both end up in the QM if they remain fit and well, and maybe even meet in the Tingle Creek first. They have different owners and there aren't many worthwhile Graded races over 2m4f to aim Finians at, and I definitely don't see Finians staying 2m5f in the Ryanair or 3m in the King George. There is no way SS will be going up much in trip next season - and while I can see him winning over 2m4f on a flat track, he'll never win a King George over 3m (see Remittance Man, Azertyioup etc).

Not unprecedented for top 2m novice chasers to win the King George uncle, Best Mate was a short priced antepost favourite for the Arkle the year it was abandoned leaving him the highest rated 2m novice that year and Desert Orchid was the highest rated 2m novice of his year too, in spite of defeat in the Arkle. Can recall very clearly people taking the pi.ss when I backed him at long odds in his first King George, I was told he wouldn't stay 3 miles in his box by one know all in the local bookies. They weren't laughing after. Point is SS is a bit of a freak like DO and he jumps so well he might conserve energy in a similar way.

Think Grand Cru is slightly big at the 8-1 for the KG, cant have him behind Bobsworth at Kempton who is 5s

I think BW looked back to his Albert Bartlett form in the RSA. I really wouldn't underestimate him. He beat Cue Card over 2m4 earlier in the season. That forms looking pretty strong now. I don't think Bob's Worth was at his best at Kempton or Ascot.
|
|
By:
I dont think Bobsworth will ever be his best at those tracks tbh
|
|
By:
BW beat CC receiving weight allied with a phucking shocker of a ride from Joe.
Around Kempton i'd fancy Grand Crus aswell but would want to see him bounce back first. |
|
By:
Long Run, The Giant Bolster, Riverside Theatre and Medermit look the obvious ones for the KG along with Gran Cru and maybe Hunt Ball. I don't see the RSA principals running at Kempton or Sir Des Champ who will presumably stay in Ireland at Christmas, and can't have Sprinter Sacre or Cue Card goig anywhere near 3m in just 9 months time.
|

By:
if Last Instalment and/or Flight Lieutenant are sound and well can imagine them contesting the Lexus and Sir Deschamps heading to Kempton!
|
|
By:
It would be crazy at the moment to campaign Sprinter over anything other than 2 miles. If he stays sound I cant see FR winner another grade one at the festival either.
|
|
By:
Sprinter is the best horse I have seen live (Was at Cheltenham and Aintree) if he turns up he wins the Champion Chase, simple as. Can see FR ending up in the Ryanair
