I know this is futile but any chance that we can see most of the horses most of the time? The overuse of close-ups detracts from the viewers ability to follow the race properly.

Position of horse and its relative speed compared to others is crucial to watching a race properly.

This is especially so approaching and jumping the final obstacle. Please do not have a close-up of the leader as the relative speed of the leader and its pursuers is lost to the viewer. The "arty" direction adds nothing but certainly takes something away. The recent Eider was a case in point.

Has anyone heard a good reason for why they do this?

Rant over! Good luck to everyone this week.

Completely ruins the race as a spectacle. May as well be watching a two horse gallop. Will definately be numerous occasions where it will happen this year.

yes focus in on the winner going up the run in, meantime there is a titanic battle going on for the places or something is flying and closing in at a rate of knots

should be the wide angle shot all the time

A plea to channel 4

If a horse is seriously injured, please no deliberate camera shots of it in its time of distress.

You did this with Gloria Victis. The prolonged aerial shots of him hobbling into the trailer, with his fractured leg were very upsetting.
The screens are there to give the poor animal and its connections the privacy they deserve.

You did it, too, with Valiramix. The close up of his eyes, in the trailer, as he was being taken away, to eventually be put down, will haunt me for the rest of my life.

It's totally unnecessary.

I have never forgiven C4 for doing this.
