What are people's experiences in previous years ?

I've tended to find that Tuesday to Thursday it's not too bad. Usable almost all the time, if a little slow.

Friday - absolutely hopeless. Might get a bet on in one out of ten attempts and even then I'm unlikely to know whether the bet is actually on or not before the race. In fact sometimes on Friday I struggle to even send or receive texts

This is with Virgin Mobile

I agree - you certainly do not want to be leaving it five minutes before the off to get on. The nearer to 1.30 you get the more it slows up - this is with Vodafone.

At Aintree last year (the Thursday) three of us trying to get on via Betfair mobile, two with Vodafone, one with 3. Vodafone users had to give up as we could not get on at all. 3 user was fine.

With O2 last year on Friday it wasn't possible. Sometimes looked like it might work but never did properly. I definitely wouldn't want to be reliant on it.

It's a fooking nightmare (Nap)

You need to find out where the little hotspots are (nb)

I have no idea why they exist or how....but they are there.  Keep walking until you hit one!

mal,
That Aintree experience happened to me too but it isn't normally that bad (although not great either, granted) - they had a problem there last year that wiped the whole track out.

Not had much joy in previous couple of years using Orange either. Very unreliable

I am big mobile user, but its not exactly in their interests to be taking business away from the stalls is it!

Struggle to send/recieve texts nevermind the internet! Usually end walking through a hotspot and phone goes mad recieving a load of texts at once

Surprisingly enough, it wasn't too bad at all for me yesterday

Betfair worked for me when i was in right spot.

Betfair app worked 6 times out of ten for me. Had to resubmit a couple of bets and only one got caught one with an unconfirmed bet being matched. Personally found it worked best in quiet areas when fewer people were around.

No connection with the ibetmate app though.

zoombet for me, only tried it 3 times and it worked.

It was a walking disaster for me. Something has to be done about it. It is ridiculous. The bookmakers have to become competitive rather than being supported like lame ducks. Why dont they ban newspapers also so that we cant work out the form. One cannot fly in the face of technological progress. Cheltenham racecourse please step forward and dont say it is not up to them. My understanding is that mobile transmitters can be brought in.
