I haven't seen Sky Sports this morning and don't have any inside knowledge, but I would have thought the slight drift on Long Run was merely to do with Grands Crus shortening for the Gold Cup, together with the likelihood that Kauto will run.

If he were a doubtful runner he would be a lot bigger than 3.25 on here.

Hoping this isnt tit for tat with Nicholls recent 'Kauto may not make it' announcements. Making life miserable for punters why dont they get a room in some fat sumo outfits instead.

Where's the Long Run drift? Grands Crus seems to have drifted for the RSA, last matched at 8. Looks like Pipe might be about to announce a Gold Cup stab.

Sorry no news or knowledge guys, but the markets are usually right in these matters. Grands Crus has been weak in the RSA for two days and I have been unable to lay him at 3.80 as part of my book! Seems the likeliest scenario, although his price really should be 4/1 anyway with the 50/50 chance of him running!!

NICKY HENDERSON on Tuesday said "nothing has happened" to Long Run as he sought to allay a report the Betfred Cheltenham GoldCup favourite could be a festival doubt.

After Ladbrokes took down their Gold Cup markets because of a drift in the horse's odds on Betfair on Monday night, Sky Sports News claimed on Tuesday morning there were "unsubstantiated rumours" surrounding Long Run.

However, Henderson told racingpost.com that there was nothing wrong with Long Run and he was going out to work with second lot.

"The horse is going out to work now,"he said. "I heard last night that he was drifting. Unless someone's been in there in the middle of the night and hit him with a hammer then I don't know why. It is most annoying because it's the last thing you need. All that worries you. Nothing has happened."

Ladbrokes suspended betting on the Gold Cup but the firm said the market would reopen on Tuesday, though with Long Run at slightly longer odds.

Spokesman David Williams said: "Yesterday we noticed the horse had begun to drift on the exchanges and that prompted some elevated business for horses beyond the front two [Long Run and Kauto Star]. Given we were going into the late night we thought the prudent thing to do would be to take a breather and see whether the story developed.

"It didn't and therefore we have decided to go back up with the market with Long Run slightly pushed out to 6-4 from evens. It was entirely precautionary."

Coral pushed Long Run out to a best-priced 7-4 and cut Kauto Star to 7-2.

Laugh

This whole quote sounds to me exactly like the sort of thing a trainer says 24 hours before the horse is declared a NR

If last year is anything to go by the NH "injured horse or illegal substance" press releases were all done on a Sunday morning weren't they? I found it amazing that RT was announced on a Sunday morning with the injury it had, surely they must have known well in advance?

Does the vet only work 9-10am on the Sunday? If so we can expect hear an update around 10.30 in five days time....

I dont think many have too much faith in what the trainer says now but the owner has just tweeted to say he is 'mystified' by the rumours. Long Run 'worked as normal today..All systems go'

Don't trust the trainer, but I think he's probably telling the truth here. Long Run didn't drift nearly enough for there to be any real problems.
