Anyone else think Cape Dutch looks tailor-made for this?
Stayed-on really well to finish 2nd to the then in-form Edgardo Sol over a trip too short at Cheltenham, then given a decent break before a win in Scotland gave his h'cap mark the necessary boost.
Still needs quite a few to come out, but should hopefully be OK.
No need to hunt around for a jockey as the very able Jack Quinlan gets on with him very well.
Has the feeling of a long-term plan to me.

Completely agree, backed him on his last 2 runs. Last time was encouraging as didn't think speed test of musselburgh would suit ideally. Very good jock as you say. Decent price as the Pipe battalion are all woefully underpriced for obvious reasons. I'll join you at 14s! GL

I understand what you're saying about Musselburgh, Workforce. He'd looked an out-and-out galloper prior to that (on the flat too), but showed a nice turn of foot there. Lightly-raced, it's unlikely we've seen the best of him yet.
I hope John Ferguson keeps the faith with Asaid too. According to my speed ratings this is a sub-standard year for the Triumph, and Asaid's debut at Huntingdon was as good a trial as most imo. Probably not the most straight-forward (wears head gear and ran a very strange race in Ireland), but I'm pretty sure he's got a serious engine. I reckon an end-to-end gallop and the hill to finish might be just what he needs. |
