Just looking for a bit of advice really. What's the Best Mate stand like? In comparison with tatts? I'm taking a group of around 15 students so we don't mind it being a bit rowdy but definitely want to be able to get our bets on, get drinks etc with relative ease as a few of them have never been to the races before. Any advice would be appreciated.

Theres definitely a lot more in the other enclosures, but then again I have never been in Best Mate stand.  Theres still bookies to put bets on and overpriced food and drink if thats all you need

Best mate is ok....

A lot more space than the other side. Arguably better viewing aswell. You cant go in the winners enclosure or the pre parade ring but you can see plenty.

You can no doubt rely on getting the over-priced food in all enclosures. Have not been to Best Mate to be fair.

Thanks for the replies. I think the most important thing is the atmosphere so mainly concerned with that. Missing out on the winners enclosure and parade ring would be a shame though. Are you allowed to take any food or drink inside?

Best Mate stand is probably your best bet for a group like that. More room and usually quite quick to get a beer. Tatts is better for the racing enthusiast, as you can watch the horses parade, but there's nothing wrong with Best Mate.

A word of caution re the Best Mate stand, I've done it once and when you say you want to experience the atmosphere,  I personally felt completely cut off; it's like the Festival is happening over in the grandstand and you're watching. Of course that was just me, you may well enjoy it. Whatever you opt for, have a good time.

Thanks Joist, I was worried about that. I remember being at the Ebor meeting and the stand opposite just didn't appeal to me. Thanks a lot, very excited for my first time at Cheltenham.
