TRAINER Ferdy Murphy confirmed on Thursday that 16-time champion jockey Tony McCoy will partner Divers in the Byrne Group Plate at the Cheltenham Festival.
Divers will be without regular rider Graham Lee, who rode him to victory at the festival last year, after he suffered a broken leg at Southwell on February 15.
But Murphy, who has trained ten festival winners, expressed his delight at the booking of McCoy.
"Dave Roberts [McCoy's agent] called to say Nicky Henderson's Aigle D'Or wasn't going to run and that he was free to ride," said Murphy.
"He's ridden a few winners for me in the past and it will be great to have him on board, he's a top man.
"Divers is the one horse at home who is absolutely flying, he will head to Doncaster for a racecourse gallop on Saturday and he's in fantastic form."
Divers is vying for favouritism at around 10-1 for the Byrne Group Plate, though he is clear market leader at 8-1 with William Hill.
