Could be Saxon, but dropped from 20-1 to 10-1 within twenty minutes tonight, is it the Pipe plunge?

Has Tom tipped it?
Could be better than Willie Wumpkins!
Personally, I would ROAR him home, after such a subtle campaign this seasonDevil

Yeah he has been trying all season, re Friday at Newbury with Mr Edgar on board. Think may have been about 150 on here before off showing at course.

Don't think it's Tom mate, he's too busy tipping Great Endeavour for the Ryanair !

maybe a reaction to thomas bellamy looking alright on painter man at the weekend. if he doesnt ride a winnner till the pertemps he can still claim 10 so maybe they've decided to stick him on.
hcper has dropped him 3lbs too so now only 2lbs higher than last years win.

I'm gutted about this. Should have taken the 20/1. I meant to after his last race, where he put up a decent performance, a good prep for him (seeing as they do their best not to win with him before the festival), but I forgot to do it.

handicapper wants shooting if he's letting this run off 2lb above last year's mark....they patently arent ar$ed the rest of the year so it should run off the mark he revised it to after last year's win....grand horse and all but not great advert for the game if it can drift like kontiki all season long then pop up again fully expected

I love this horse and backed it for the last 3 years in this race.  In fact my avatar is his win last year.  Pipe has done great to get it down to 140 again.  It is all set for a great run.  Typical Pipe plot, with his Ashkazar in the field on a likely top weight on 11-10.  This would put BV on a very nice 10-9.  With a potental 10lb claimer on board he would be carrying just 9-13 !!!!  Off that weight, with a soft lead, and his super slick hurdling, they won't see him for dust.

It have been suggested Tom Bellamy may take the ride, but Kieron Edgar is just a likely as he works the horse at home.

It would be a brilliant story if an 11 year old could land this race for the 3rd year running.

Price drop seems to have coincided with handicapper finally relenting and dropping Buena Vista 3 lbs after its run at Newbury to a mark of 140 which is only 2 lbs higher than his winning mark last year.

if he runs it will be his 8th festival in a row, remarkable.

Bit harsh duncan, its hardly a dark horse.  It is probably the most exposed horse in the race.  An 11yo who is running off a mark higher than one he has never won off before.

its all out in the open, just back him once a year like i do.

Has anyone really been kidded here? Anyone with any grasp of handicapping wouldn't have touched this horse with a barge poll this season. Don't see who has been losing out. Off 140 it's time to get interested again and of course we know he will be 'off'.

Problem we have this year is his price is a lot shorter, still a working mans price though.

16's is fair enough budd, only 4 points shorter than last year.

there is no way this horse runs on its merits the rest of the year, and relative newcomers to the sport could easily be kidded...sad that so many of you are apologists for this sort of thing....no wonder the game doesnt change its ways Cry

It's a grown ups world and we as punters have to put the puzzle together, no apologies.

i've been putting the puzzle together successfully for 25 yrs....i have neither backed or laid this horse....but i do have morals and i think the game should have morals

don't think horse has won anything yet  ? if patient owners are prepared to wait  12 months for a winning chance  again  maybe  ?  difficult for doo gooders to  have a go at the  trainer being so patient .........no whipping  for a year a good story that nobody will BELIEVE  ,can happen  .

I wish  connections well for  cheltenham  , is patience a virtue  ,soon see  ,might have a few  quid on and watch with interest the outcome , if it makes starting line up .

question ...?.wetherby's  , racing body appear on the ball re  BACKSTAGE  ..trainer left this in a race ,and was not qualified as won too much funds, from a race 2 years ago .

Long time  market leader , trainer seemed to  know ? ,did he hope it  got under the radar   and get a run  ,now  markets  all distorted for race in question .

At  last a body in racing are on the button  ,good for them  .

Funny old game   ,HAD BET HORSE BACKSTAGE,  on 5  different mixed bets  ,so alters the position for me , despite  P/P  made it void  , as bets do not now  make  anything like  what might have been  .

Trainer knew ?  yet let people down  ,not a CROSS WORD  ,a costly mistake for punters  .?..

I vowed not to get involved ante /post  after last  year  ,yet again  ,a dissapointed  position ?  like me some people  look for something ahead ,something that  might be  rewarding ,...trainers and owners, are  by choice in the public domain ,and  ought to  keep  supporters of  game up to date where required  .......... MEANS KEEPING A HORSE IN COTTONWOOL ? FOR  12 MONTHS  ,THATS THE CHOICE  ,WE HAVE AS PUNTERS TO  STAKE OUR  CLAIM ,RE ITS ABILITY TO WIN  GAIN ?

GOOD LUCK TO THOSE WHO HAVE THE BIGGER PRICE WELL  DESERVED  IN MY OPINION ..........

Presumably someone who knows the horse well, either because they're ridden him this season or they ride work on him at the Pipe stables. Take your pick from Thomas Bellamy, Mr M Ennis & Mr K Edgar. (I think only the last one is eligible for the 10 lbs claim.)

Since the Pertemps he's been beaten distances of:

18 1/2L
100L
55L
129L
76L
31L
110+L
34L

Wonder if he'll show the same remarkable return to form he always has done previously at Cheltenham?Confused
