Just got a feeling Nearest the Pin is being lined up for this. Needs further than 2mile and decent ground, something around 135 would be nice after todays valiant but not victorious effort.

Always a tough race this one .. think A.Martin lost a promising horse in this race a couple of seasons ago so see your angle here Liam .. keep us posted

Be careful with this - it's likely to be a very limited handicap effectively, probably with

less than 10 lbs between the whole field.

Over half the field will be at least 10 lb well in. Certainly a good pointer for next seasons big handicaps

That's been true this season hanbury, but that could be because last season's "top" novices were in fact nearly all pants.

They were pants Strontium, I agree!

I always respect the form of this race though, and when previously the Jewson. So many plotted horses, especially now its a 0-140 race

Such a tough race to pick the winner.

I remember having one of my bets of the Festival in this race a few years back.

Backed Big Bucks at 20/1, he ran off 147 plus a claimer allowance! He just needed Ruby on him for the big win:(

Its a great race. A great puzzle.

Yep, the new conditions do encourage plot horses and there will be a lot of unexposed ones running.

Do you have any strong opinion's in this race Strontium?

No mate. Probably won't even look at this one until the 5 days stage (or maybe even the final decs) as I expect a mountain of entries.

Realised after I'd posted that its far too early to have a strong feeling!

I think JP has tried his best to get Shot From the Hip into this race. He's rated 136 in Ireland, you never know he might creep in.

His last run in the JP Moriaty was eye catching. Lets just say AP wasnt to hard on him! He'll probably end up on 142/143 realistically. But you never know.

He's worth keeping an eye on, if he gets in I can see him going off a well backed favourite.

I doubt Tony Martin will have this on Nearest the Pins radar after last Sunday, maybe Punchestown. Im hoping Rathlin gets an entry , we'll find out later, entries out after midday today, weights next week.

Apparently he does qualify now. 142 looks about right despite his moaning. Prob 1 or 2 better in but 9/1 nrnb looks ok.

Would have to run of 12st though - there's very likely to be some better handicapped in what is likely to be a very, very limited handicap (8lb separated the whole field last year).
