What is it? Possibly a novice chaser in that micky mouse novice handicap chase?

And what race will Divers run in?

Bullseye first time Meaty - Divers in Festival Plate.
Report mark ball February 8, 2012 8:28 PM GMT
Divers will have an entry in the Plate & 3m handicap. Decision on where he runs to be made nearer the time based on the going.

Riguez runs next week (Ayr or Kelso) and then I'll chat about Festival plans with the owners and Ferdy.

Mark is that the 3m hcp on the first day or the Kim Muir?  Thanks
Report inchcailoch February 8, 2012 8:47 PM GMT
De Boitron will be well handicapped come march me thinks.
Report Tatie Baron February 8, 2012 8:57 PM GMT
His rating is too high for The Kim Muir shockster, 0-140 race. Would surprise me if he swerves Festival Plate.
Report mark ball February 8, 2012 9:20 PM GMT
Kim Muir is 0-145 this year, not 0-140, so his rating is fine but he'll not be entered in that race.
Report duffy February 8, 2012 9:37 PM GMT
divers ain't no plot horse though is he....we know all about him...ran a great race in the paddy power and unseated last time when his abysmal jumping proved too much of an "obstacle" if they can sort out his jumping he'll improve 10lb.
Report oneman February 8, 2012 9:42 PM GMT
abysmal jumping?? you must have been watching a different race to me.
Report horse9 February 8, 2012 9:46 PM GMT
Divers aimed at the Byrne Group Plate I assume ?
Interesting to see if they think his stamina would hold out for the old W Hill handicap, he goes off 142 I think so that should give him around 11st, ideal weight for the race....
Report Tatie Baron February 8, 2012 9:46 PM GMT
Cheers for Kim Muir info Mark. Don't get the abysmal jumping thing either.
Report shockster February 8, 2012 9:49 PM GMT
Inchcailoch, you could be on to something.
Report mark ball February 8, 2012 10:37 PM GMT
Abysmal jumping ?  Racing is all about opinion but it was good enough to win at the Festival last season.
Report governor February 8, 2012 10:50 PM GMT
Inch thats a definate in my opinion backed it at donny was money for it needs to go left handed ran on nicely and is becoming well handicapped imo.
Report governor February 8, 2012 11:02 PM GMT
Oh and seems to do all its winning in the spring Mischief

Am a big Divers fan. Don't think the jumping is abysmal but he's not very fluent - seems to lose a length here and there with some careful leaps. To be fair, I don't think the jock was seen in a great light the last day - he should have stayed on after what was a very minor mistake.

My gut instinct is that he wouldn't get home over three miles, especially on what is likely to be more testing ground on the Tuesday. When you look at the form of the Paddy Power and the race in which Quantitativeeasing won, he must be a player off 142 in the Byrne Plate, even if there are a couple that might potentially have a bit more in hand.
Report tomdeane February 9, 2012 1:32 AM GMT
^ Interesting that he's in at Warwick on Saturday too. Highly likely that it will be off but not quite sure I get the plan there - maybe have a run round half fit in unsuitable ground and get dropped a couple of pounds for March?

What if it cuts up though and he wins? Wouldn't want to be much higher for one of those Festival handicaps imo.
Report duffy February 9, 2012 10:52 AM GMT
to be fair i might have overdone it calling his jumping abysmal but i think it's fair to say that the fences certainly get in the way, he goes through the top of most of them and often needs to be rousted away from the fences...which gets him out of his rhythm....i think the stable acknowledge this now because last time they changed the plan with him and tried to race a lot closer to the pace but he made his errors and completely lost his rhythm which contributed to the unseat....he's a very awkward horse to watch because he can look like he's a traveller at times but also comes off and on the bridle at various times during his races......at the moment he's not well in or a plot horse in any way and whether he ran at warwick and got dropped a couple is neither here nor there.....what will make him a significantly better horse than his current mark is if they can iron out the way ne gets from one side to the other.

Get to a preview evening and listen to Ferdys nap; he gave us all Divers last year to be fair to him
Report Tatie Baron February 10, 2012 6:40 PM GMT
Byrne Group Plate is his target. Murphy quoted on sportinglife.com.

Going Wrong in the last race on the Tuesday - the race he won last year with Divers.

He's run him a couple of times this season, got a couple of wins out of him and ran him over 2m last time out which is a little sharp for him. He's got himself a mark of 139 I think it is, so hasn't run since to protect his mark to get in this 0-140 handicap.

He beat Wymott last year and looks to have been laid out for this all season.

I'm on @ 16/1

As Inchailloch mentioned above De Boitron ran an encouraging third at Musselburgh Saturday?
Report inchcailoch February 13, 2012 10:12 AM GMT
Ran to well don't think they wanted to be so close.
Report shockster February 13, 2012 10:15 AM GMT
It has shortened up slightly, but can't imagine it being raised in the weights. Have not backed it yet and will probably wait, but def running into form.

THE HOLLINWELL Been a most disappointing horse, with as many PU to finishes in he's recent past... but a nice pipe opener win in a Southwell on Sunday... anyone have an idea of the plans for this fellow?
