Backing slected horses for a championship race NRNB before they run in a big race. For example Medermit is 50/1 with 365 for the gold cup. If he runs a big race, say wins or places whilst staying on and not too far behind surely his odds would come down enabling you to lay off. If he bombs out surely he would not run in Gold Cup. I think it can only be done on horses who have multiple options at the festival. Can you see a scenario where he doesn't run well but still goes for the GC?

Should add it's probably best to place these bets on unexposed horses at that distance etc.

I have done exactly the same, got 180 average on here in the outright and 89 average in the without the front two market

have also backed the 14/1 for saturday ew so if he places I win enough to pay for the GC bets

agree about unexposed at the distance too

You have caused me to have a cover on Medermit having already backed him in the Ryanair

Good idea generally. I did this with Gauvain before the Victor Chandler. I backed him NRNB for the Champion Chase, thinking he'll surely only run in the CC if he goes close in the VC. I'm just praying they run him in the Ryanair, as I'd rather have that money back!

Thx for opinions. It's something I've been mulling over but wanted to check if there was anything I was missing. If he wins on Saturday he will be single figures. The handicap form is working out very well but this is much tougher. I honestly have no idea how he will fare on Saturday which is why I prefer this route to backing him on Saturday.

good idea...if he fell early it may not work as his price wouldn't come in and connections might still run him.
