Has he qualified for the Pertemps final yet?  Can't remember if any have been abandoned that he might have been in?  If not there are only 2 qualifiers left. Carlisle and Haydock.  If he isn't qualified and isn't entered for those it would have to be the Coral Cup as his OR is 148 so too high for the conditional jockeys race.

Not really much of a plot IMO. Gone up a staggering 27lb for last time and likely handicapped out of things at the festival. Entered in a Pertempts Qualifier which will surely be called off, will qualify even so imagine thats the plan.

Sorry you are correct -19lb. Meant to say entered in Carlisle qualifier, though due to bizarre rule even if race doesn't go ahead you still qualify for the final

Pertemps it will surely be then as the best hope of him improving further would surely be the extra distance?

Isn't there an inspection today? Before the entries for Carlisle. So if it's off before the entries surely that won't count, and he can't say I was going to run in it.

He's already entered for the Carlisle race so even if they call it off today, before the declarations are made tomorrow, he will still qualify along with the rest of the entries. The winner of the final qualified like this in 1996, 1997, 1998, 2003 and 2008.

Oh right, you sure? I thought they had to actually declare to run in it then for it to be off.

Rule get's even worse if it's like that.

Yes thats how it works, l remember a couple of years ago when the weather was really bad for a couple weeks and the Warwick qualifier had no chance of being on, it had nearly 80 entries all of which qualified to run in the Final.

Sivola De Sivola wins Pertemps on at 14s e/w, watch his last run over mile shorter trip won by gambled on stablemate.Also has cracking form before that re Fingal Bay,Barbatos,should if not running again run off 132 which is imo not showing his true ability, cracking chance given good/softish ground.

Sivola de Sivola is surprisingly entered at Newbury on Saturday.

My bet of the meeting is Sivola de Sivola - he better nt fkin run this weekend


George experienced better fortune with Module on Saturday, who won his first British start by three and three-quarter lengths and although no plans have been made for him yet, stablemate Sivola De Sivola who finished fourth behind him has a festival target in place.

The trainer added: "The highlight was Module providing owner Simon Clarke with his first ever Cheltenham winner in the class 2 handicap hurdle. No future plans have been made for him at this stage.

"Sivola De Sivola also ran well in this race, finishing a staying-on fourth.  His target will be the Pertemps Final at the festival back over his preferred trip of three miles."

THERE was a silver lining for some owners and trainers from the abandonment of Carlisle's Wednesday meeting.

The track was to have hosted the latest qualifier for the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival and the abandonment of the 3m1f race left all 54 entries qualified under the race's rules without having to expose theirhandicap marks.

Chief beneficiary was the west country powerhouse David Pipe, who just happens to be eyeing a hat-trick in the Cheltenham final after Buena Vista's back-to-back wins.

Pipe had 11 of the 54 entries, including John Smith's Grand National favourite Junior,  in the qualifier won last year byCheltenham fourth Knockara Beau, who went up for his Carlisle win.

There were other multiple entries from the likes of Jonjo O'Neill and Venetia Williams, who have trained past Pertemps Final winners, and Donald McCain.
