we go the Tues and Weds every year.in the tatts, but next year might upgrade to club. We went in club for trials day last week and thought it was great. Not sure if it's worth £30 extra though.
We go down on the Monday, get hammered and nearly always miss the Supreme - will try to cut back on the monday abit this year.

Monday Royal Oak, Prestbury preview night, Tue, Wed, Thur in club, come home Thur night and have Gold Cup day in the pub with a dozen or so racing muckers. Will not go Gold Cup Day again unless they reduce capacity - saw Imperial Commanders Gold Cup from the betting ring in the rain and couldn't get near under cover for the mass of bodies.

Am there for all four days this year. 2011 was the first time I'd done the whole lot and my best friend and I vowed we'd do the whole week from then on. Have a nice little hotel in Bristol booked up this year. Will meet my mate at the track good and early on the Tuesday. We'll go through last minute news and put together a placepot perm, have a good bite to eat in the car park, a pint of Guinness or two, and await the roar.
Echoing what a lot of other people have said, but this four days is the absolute pinnacle of my year. Have been living in Canada for three years now and this week is the one that I always make it back to the UK to be a part of. Couldn't afford to return for Christmas six weeks ago and make Cheltenham, so that was an easy decision to make.
The next few weeks drag on and on and on, but by God the feeling you get when you rock up on that glorious Tuesday morning and literally smell the optimism and excitement is truly the stuff of dreams.

Duffy you going wrong enclosure mate you can see everything from where i stand, put bets on before mate on-line/betting shops and drink in pub from 10.00 am, no need to drink on-course after few morning/lunch. Then celebrate in evening after a few winners easy!!!

Love the anticipation and the racing Tuesday & Wednesday. Thursday's card is poor by comparision and as others have mentioned, Gold Cup day is a nightmare. For the past few years I have left immediately after watching the main event.
The Festival has been my favourite week of the year for decades, so much so that I found a job in Cheltenham in 1990 and came to live here. Best decision I ever made!

All 4 days again, travel down Monday home Saturday, first year staying in central cheltenham got fed up with trains buses and unreliable taxis.
Roger
Stow is ok but not exactly buzzing stayed there for four festivals until 2010, best pub is the Queens Head (food and beer, Donnington brewery just down the road), the Kings arms is good also, normally get a late one in there, also the Eagle and Child is quirky and worth a visit.
If the old butchers restaurant is still there that's worth a visit also.

tue with the wife in club/members fri with 51 mates in best mate stand

Going with 3 others on the Thursday and then with just the one on the Friday.
Staying over with brother in Birmingham so its trains back & forward, unless we miss the last train (has been done) ;)
Off all week so watching the first two days at home.
Never bet on course, always able to use betfair in the morning or on course....bookies tighten everything up as the day goes on.
Heavy drinking day on the Thursday will probably mean a bet in the charity race but also a slower one on the Friday.
Been going for years, various days or whole week, but this week its just the two.
Cant wait!!!

A casual glance through this thread shows fewer than I expected people going for all 4 days.
Okay there is a recession and some have cited poorer quality racing on some days and the jam-packed Somme-like nature of the course on the Friday but Ive always assumed that everyone ring fenced this entire week and was down in the Cotswolds for the duration?
Yes, the top-quality of racing is the biggest and most important factor, but the chance to be away from reality - either by yourself or with a gang of mates - for the week is a huge plus too.
No phones, no nagging, no one wanting a piece of you. Just you, horses, 60,000 like-minded souls, your favourite tipple and food and no one telling you how to live your life or making expectations of you other than you turn up and pay homage.
No criticism of those not going for all 4 days. Just an observation....

Agreed Roger, l had to turn down a job because they wanted me to work during Cheltenham. My wife looks forward to her 2 week holiday and Christmas break but even she knows this is the only week of the year that l look forward to.

Agree with the sentiment Roger, but unfortunately its the drinking that kills it for me - never know when to say no....!! Used to do the old 3 days every year, but when it went to 4 it ruined me - maybe I shouldn't have done Stratford on the Monday first....

4 days in the Club enclosure; going to to do the week properly by heading to Sandown on the Saturday and Stratford on the Monday.
On a random note; does anyone go from Buckingham/Milton Keynes area? Just if anyone does a wee bit of a car share maybe in order... Save a quid or 2 on diesel!

That's the place at the bottom of Jonjo's gallops isn't it? Always have a pint and a pie in there at some point over the week. You're dead right about the racing folk in there too.
Viking
You live in Buckingham? I grew up and went to school there. Walked the earth a while and have now ended up back in Aylesbury! Can't help out with the lifts unfotunately as I'm staying over in a hotel for the Festival.
