I’ve been having a wee look at Hendos Triumph entries this morning, best juvenile trainer in the business for me. Any entries by him must be considered, only the 4 this year.
Otto The Great 66/1 Does not look up to it based on his run behind Saddlers Risk, would need to improve hugely.
Ozeta 40/1 Listed fillies winner over hurdles in France, who was well behing Hinterland back in November, had to be tested after that run and not seen since. No other entries coming up.
Lyvius 33/1 Was bought from Germany back in November, was gelded but not seen yet. He’s declared to make his hurdling debut at Mussleburgh tomorrow so we will know more after that, however this is not a race where Nicky would normally run his No1 Triumph contendor.
Une Artiste 40/1 This one is hugely interesting. He won over hurdles in Pau and was bought this week by Simon Munir; owner of Grandouet. The horse has no other entries, but towards the end of this month is the Kempton meeting, where Nicky has given debuts in recent years to Soldatino and Molotof, who are both owned by Simon Munir!
A bit of a punt this as we don’t really know that much but history repeating itself here, and at 40/1 I think it’s worth it and my money is on.
Yep I think he is most likely to be the number one. I do think it has been a very quiet year for Nicky with regards to juvenile hurdlers. Not had many about at all compared to other seasons. 40/1 is fair enough as he's already won over hurdles and likely to be Hendo's number one imo.

Just watched her hurdles debut. Very good. She beat a big field very easily. Picked up very quickly when asked to go on after the last even though a bit green. I would have no idea what the form is worth and also worth noting the ground looked pretty heavy. On the plus though for a horse who definitely has an engine & plenty of speed she settled & jumped very well. No 40/1 shot imo & I think she will line up in the Adonis like you say.

l have done a little research into how fillies have performed since in the Triumph since the inception of the Fred Winter, in which they have a very good record by the way. There have been 9 fillies take part all told but when l narrow it down realisticlly there were only 3 contenders, the others had SPs of 66/1, 33/1, 50/1 x 2, 200/1 & 125/1. The contenders were Lounaos a disappointing 7/2f that finished 10th and last year we had Unaccompanied 11/2 2nd and A Media Luz 12/1 PU. A very small sample size l am left withand impossible to draw any conclusions from it really but given how Unaccompanied ran last year lt gives hope to fillies in the future. Another point and probably completely irrelevant but she has the same sire as Montbazon.

I do but I had to pay 2 euros for 10 vids & obv it's all in french. http://www.equidiavideo.fr/Courses/D-OLORON4 Worth doing though as I've now backed her and I wouldn't have done without seeing her run. Think it's a good point you make about her sharing the same sire as Montbazon as it's a sire I know very little abut. It certainly shows that the sire can get some nice speedy NH types & that she should be ok on better ground hopefully.

One minor word of caution, emphasis on minor, it does appear it was a fillies only race? Always a query whether a filly will run as well against males. Also stats for French females over GB/Ire jumps are astonishingly poor, they seem far less able to adapt than their male counterparts. There are of course always exception! Just worth bearing in mind.

Stamiona must be a doubt at this stage though - not raced further than 10 f and no sign of much stmaina in its siblings. Still, Nicholls doesn't muck about.

sorry its a normal novice hurdle over 2m 1.5f. she is qualified for national hunt ones as she ran in french bumpers but this isnt one of them! her win penalty in Pau is negated by the fillies allowance so she has 10-7 to carry. somehow doubt she will start there but this weather is clearly worrying the trainers!

Nicky Henderson's latest French recruit Une Artiste made a fine start to life in Britain with a determined victory in the Betfred 'When Both Teams Score' Victor Ludorum Juvenile Hurdle at Haydock.
The filly was sent off the 10-11 favourite on the strength of three victories in her homeland and she predictably handled the testing conditions with aplomb.
With main market rival Lexi's Boy struggling before the turn for home and the strong-travelling Moujik Borget weakening tamely, it was left for High Samana to chase home the favourite, but Une Artiste found plenty for David Bass and passed the post with a length and three-quarters in hand.
The jockey said: "I like her a lot. She's very French in the way she jumps in that she's always hitting the top bar, but she doesn't seem to lose much ground. She'd shown a bit at home and she's just idled when she got to the front, which apparently she tended to do in France.
"I haven't ridden many Triumph Hurdle horses, so it's hard to say whether she is one. I would say it is very heavy, horrible ground out there and she obviously handles that well."

D day for this one tomorrow, thoughts from Barry on his blog today:
I kick off with UNE ARTISTE (2.00) in the Adonis Juvenile Hurdle and this will be my first sit on her in public as she made her debut at Haydock a week ago when staying on well for David Bass.
This will be a totally different experience for her going right handed on a sharper track but she’s had plenty of experience in France winning two bumpers and a hurdle and when I watched a re-run of Haydock it was clear she had plenty of pace – she was travelling very smoothly after jumping two out and buckled down well.
This will be the fastest ground she’s tackled but that’s not to say she won’t handle it well as they hardly ever get the chance to race on it in France.
She’s up against two leading Triumph Hurdle players in Sadler’s Risk and Dildar so we’ll know exactly how we stand after this.
I know one thing, I followed her up over four flights on Friday morning and she was very good.

This horse is going places couldn't have been much more impressive yesterday beating Swincombe Flame on the bridle. Seems to be improving quickly at the moment and the penny has dropped. She showed a lot more speed yesterday than she has since arriving to England. Great spot everyone could be heading to the David Nicholson next season to take on the mighty Quevega.
