a little birdy told me suggested i should back this for the bumper,im not convinced though

Two things struck me about today's race - the change of pace and James Reveley thinking he could give the winner four lengths start.
I did have a think about the Champion Bumper but then wondered why if the horse was that good he has turned up at Ludlow and Market Rasen rather than Newbury or Ascot? I can't remember too many Flat breds winning the Festival bumper, presumably because the stiffer track, and true gallop works puts an emphasis on stamina and works in favour of the NH breds. |

may appear flat bred but half brothers are Midnight Game and West with the Wind - really looked like they wanted to teach him something today after his easy introduction and looks the best of the home contingent to me now

I backed Cue Card after Fontwell so I don't need reminding about his form. He won at the end of January so they decided not to give him a second run close to the Festival. New Years Eve is entirely different in that there were decent bumpers at both Newbury and Ascot (entered) and he bypassed them to go to Market Rasen. I don't know why but I think I would like to before I started saying I had seen the Champion Bumper on the basis of little more than an impressive change of pace.

Maybe they didnt want him having too hard a race so close to Cheltenham,i havent backed it,was just told a few weeks ago that connections fancy it for the CB,was 66/1 a few weeks ago

Love him but I don't think the Chelt bumper will suit.. If he wins that he really is something special as he looks all speed to me.

Thats what i thought Master,its more often than not a real battle up that hill,i'd personally prefer a tough NH type on my side

Agree with that OTS the race is generally won by a NH bred horse that travels and stays. He looks & performs exactly how he should do a middle distance flat horse. If he has that kick left for the end of the race they won't see which way he went but you have to think Aintree would suit better at the moment.

I think it also worth considering that the eased down and negatively ridden (putting it kindly) Swinging Sultan was conceding 19lbs and beaten 8 lengths by the winner who was ridden out to the line. He would be a million for the Champion Bumper. I think New Years Eve was best priced around 20/1 before the race and on achievement so far that is around where he should be now.
