GEVREY CHAMBERTIN, a brother to exciting novice chaser Grands Crus, made a winning start to his career with a wide-margin bumper victory at Ffos Las on Wednesday.
Like his illustrious sibling, Gevrey Chambertin is trained by David Pipe and owned by Roger Stanley and Yvonne Reynolds and could have the talent to match his big brother given the way he romped home at Ffos Las.
Looks a very good prospect indeed. Obviously, bumper form is extremely difficult to work out, and have no idea whatsoever about what he beat today, but that was visually very impressive. If you missed it, the replay is on the ATR website and will be interesting to see if Pipe sends him for the Champion Bumper in March (Cue Card won that as a 4 year old).
The next Grands Crus in a couple of years maybe??

Given the fact he should stay well in time and looks very straight forward I think he could be a decent prospect for the bumper. If he was mine however he wouldn't step anywhere near the hot bumpers later in the season. He's fairly light and obviously needs to grow and strengthen up some more. I would treat him as a long term prospect rather than going to the well too early. He reminds me a bit of a young Al Ferof tbh.

David Pipe's easy Ffos Las bumper winner Gevrey Chambertin may not run again this season.
A brother to Pipe's stable star Grands Crus, the three-year-old French-bred gelding cruised to a 30-length success in Wales on his racecourse debut. He is already prominent in the betting for the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival, but Pipe is not getting carried away yet. "He's come out of the race fine," said Pipe. "He obviously did it very well, although I'm not sure that he beat that much in the end. "I think he'll have a holiday now and that may be it for the season, I'm not sure, or he may have one more run, he'll tell us. "It was great to get a win out of him on his first run, it couldn't have been a better start." |

I see this fella is entered into a couple of bumpers this weekend, one is listed.
After Pipe said he may not run again this year, GC must be impressing at home. If he wins a listed bumper it will be difficult to turn down the festival. I've got a massive three quid in my sid james account so may get on now for the bumper in he hope i get a run (not betting a penny more in the bumper). If he does go i can see him being backed because of the Grands Crus comparisons. |

prob irrelevant given that he won by a country mile at FL but the 3rd and 4th have come out since and somehow managed to be beaten even further!

Sorry for bumping up a really old thread, but I quite like this fella's chances in the Albert Bartlett.
He was entitled to win today (didn't back him), but I see him much more of a stayer than a speedier Neptune horse. Albert Bartlett is traditionally a much weaker race, and I think he'd go there with a fairly decent chance. |

Pipe has suggested that he may not run again this season. I hope that's not the case though. Would love to see him take his chance in the ABH.

Nice horse. His hurdling leaves a lot to be desired. Can see why connections might want to take their time with him.

If they wanted to take the money there's a handicap hurdle at Sandown over 2 miles 6 furlongs in about 4 weeks which is worth a few quid and he'd be ideal for that assuming he doesn't go up by more than 10lbs for yesterday's win.

Otherwise, given his connections, it'll probably be Haydock in November for the Fixed Brush Hurdle.
