after the impressive win by secret edge at fontwell today[under a penalty] it is surely going to take a goodun to beat it . i also felt hinterland won with any amount in hand at chelt last time , entered to run at chelt this sat.

i agree, i think he'll win the triumph!
Report j2010 December 6, 2011 8:13 PM GMT
that cheltenham race working out very well , cud end up with the triumph and fred winter winner, wudnt be most amazing thing in world if ozeta ended up with a handicap mark itll run 30 pounds better than in march :) :)

Hollow tree seems consistent but no superstar... so what did Hinterland really beat? And how strong was Sam Winner at this stage last year?
Report stevo1 December 7, 2011 8:24 AM GMT
Winner most probably not run yet over hurdles?

Dildar!
Report ilikewavingatbuses December 10, 2011 7:35 PM GMT
v disappointing!

id like to see him held up slightly and not doing the donkey work! hes better than todays run imo!
Report Paul4 December 10, 2011 7:40 PM GMT
can only think ruby took him out in front to avoid being brought down if they thought he was such a good thing?
Report ilikewavingatbuses December 10, 2011 8:49 PM GMT
u could be right!

if he was THAT good he'd have won but u get some funny races sometimes when the best horse goes from the front and i would defo give him another chance! the winner is a good horse anyway but he could easily reverse form imo!

ill never forget maoi chinn tire (complete outsider 1000/1 and former sprinter) absolutely destroying a good field inc grandouet without coming off the bridle.

im happy to give hinterland another chance!
Report buddeliea December 11, 2011 9:19 AM GMT
Easily reverse form??
From what i saw the winner is different class, dont care how they race him next time, for me its never gonna beat the winner.
Report festivalfanatic December 11, 2011 10:04 AM GMT
Tame effort from Hinterland yesterday, when he was clearly expected to deliver. They're not machines and you can forgive any horse one moderate run. Unless it's irish trained, I suspect the Triumph winner hasn't raced over hurdles yet.
Report alexmillwall December 11, 2011 11:56 AM GMT
He looks like a big baby- baby mix the standard triumph horse, nothing to look at but fully developed.
Report Masterminded December 11, 2011 3:46 PM GMT
Hinterland wants time, further & fences. I don't see him as a Triumph horse on his 2 runs so far.
Report Joist December 11, 2011 7:30 PM GMT
Did you take the same view with Mao Chin Tire and Grandouet, Bud? Wink
Report buddeliea December 11, 2011 8:09 PM GMT
well i never backed either,if thats any good to you Joist.
Can you honestly see a reversal from what you saw on Saturday mate?
Report Joist December 12, 2011 12:53 AM GMT
Maybe with a stronger pace where he can just drop in rather than doing his own donkey work, but I do agree that it is hard to see a reversal, Baby Mix absolutely slammed him. I was just being facetious with the Grandouet/MCT point Happy
Report stevo1 December 12, 2011 1:00 AM GMT
As stated above winner maybe not been hirdles hurdles in UK yet, anyone backing these early seaon horses for next March are looking to lose money? How many different favs last season up till Zarkandar numerous to name.
Report buddeliea December 12, 2011 7:51 AM GMT
Yeh i know JoistHappy

Agree Stevo,
I dont think i will be playing till the day,but if i had a nice price on Baby Mix,i would'nt be complaining!!
Report ilikewavingatbuses December 12, 2011 2:12 PM GMT
i can see anything happening if they meet!! this is the least reliable sport when it comes to form. thats why practically nobody can make it pay.

of course hinterland could reverse form if they meet againCrazy

im always amazed when people take horse racing and the finishing positions of the horses so literally regardless of how easy a horse has won or lost. every race is different.

and i was deadly serious with the maoi chinn/ grandouet example. that was exaggerated of course but he still won on the bridle, ON THE BRIDLE, just shows u that u never know whats going to happen, its the most ridiculous sport there is and the reason many end up potless.
Report ilikewavingatbuses December 12, 2011 2:15 PM GMT
eitherway i think the triumph winner prob hasnt been seen afterall. the price of babymix is a joke, the fav of the triumph gets beat and the winner takes its spot, god knows whats lurking out there and how many favs there will be from now til the triumph, im pretty sure it wont be babymix anyway, holdfire imo.
Report Wicketd December 12, 2011 2:55 PM GMT
there's a little difference between grandouet not settling whatsoever and having his first run in the uk (hendersons are usually keen and not fit) and being beaten in a completely strange race by a 200/1 outsider.

hinterland dictated the race but had absolutely no change of gear, just galloped to the line. maybe making the pace doesn't suit him, but on that evidence he certainly looks to want further. he was just done for speed.

winner looks extremely smart but fav for the triumph is just a bit cheeky. will be looking to oppose him in a strongly run race where he might not get everything in his favour.
Report buddeliea December 12, 2011 5:04 PM GMT
ok buses calm down mate.i presume you have antepost bets on Hinterland.
im just saying that from what i saw i cannot see a reversal.
That dont mean it wont happen, just that as far as i am concerned it wont.
i do realise what sort of game we are in.
Report buddeliea December 12, 2011 5:08 PM GMT
Are you surprised that Baby Mix is fav after demoloshing the previous fav?sounds like you might be,what did you expect then?
and who do you think should be fav??
Report Wicketd December 12, 2011 5:26 PM GMT
dont think who the market leader of this race is is very important anyway. we've had according and franklino at the head of the market before running in the past. we've no idea how well hinterland's debut will work out, the 2nd and 3rd have won nothing races odds-on, and the main market rival that day was given a very easy time when beaten.

it has to be the worst possible antepost market
Report buddeliea December 12, 2011 5:34 PM GMT
yep
Report ilikewavingatbuses December 12, 2011 6:29 PM GMT
sorry budd i was getting angry lol and u may of course be right but i was just pointing out how unreliable this game is, not that u need me too tell u that im sire!!

gl if u decide to back him.

peace.

Report ilikewavingatbuses December 12, 2011 6:33 PM GMT
oh and i dont ante post bet LOL so dont care what hinterland does tbh Laugh

just like to chat about the races on here because its difficult to get anything done on the main forum, thats just for winding people up!Happy

just thought he looked a real good prospect and dont think he showed his best yest, even tho the winner is prob v good , maybe even better than him anyway, only time will tell i suppose!

okey doke.
Fwiw i aint got much idea on this race, think Baby Mix is probably the best visual impression i have had on any of the candidates so far,but no bets for me as yet.

Awaiting to see Dildar debut could be interesting, given Nicholls approach with Zarkandar last season!

thanx for all the imformative posts on this thread gents i was at chelt saturday and it was obvious to me that nobody wanted to make the running . ruby went on and hinterland clearly never settled and without making excuses this clearly never suited the horse hoeever he ran to bad to be true as much as 20lb below his previous run i wudn't right him off altogether yet although i do know there is a lot of head scrathing at ditcheat as they thought hinterland to be a monster!
Report alexmillwall December 13, 2011 9:47 AM GMT
Fair enough, they also thought similar of SW last year... going on the physical makeup and apparent rating of Baby Mix i like him a lot... watching the betting prerace maybe not so much
