Kicking myself not taking 14s for Arkle.

But how far will he stay - could be very special.

No horse should jump Cheltenham that well on debut. For me he sets the standard on what we've seen so far, it was a sublime performance today! Didn't strike me as a stayer; two miler through and through, could dominate that division for years to come.

Peddlers Cross won a very easy race at a very easy track...can't get carried away with him just yet!

dwm - wouldn't quite say sublime! Was a good debut though. Got a couple slightly wrong but entitled to on debut. Nice prospect for sure, Arkle looking hot Shocked

Perfectly satisfactory start but Astracad is only moderate. Well beaten by St Are who was in turn well beaten yesterday. It is possible that Astracad improved for going back to 2 miles but I don't think that Al Ferof beat anything of any real ability today. Grand Cru easily the most impressive novice out so far.

Cannot agree at all with that Sage.
Nowt wrong with AF,PC or GC as regards their debuts and hard to put one in front of another in my view.

If you believe Paul Nicholls (tricky, but he doesn't lie all the time), Al Ferof needed that today...! Skipped away up the hill, and if he stays fit he'll be very hard to beat!

No point looking too far ahead imo (unless you're interested in a bet for the 2014 Gold Cup), today's performamnce pretty much confirms this year will be confined to 2m Novice Chases, with the Arkle as the obvious goal. I know PC was a cracking hurdler and is bred for the job, but he's gonna have to go some to get the better of this fellow. That he isn't favourite represents a betting opportunity imo.
