For the first race on day one, bar a Biblical downpouur the weekend / Monday before, it will, officially, be good to soft, because that's what the Course Executive want.

In reality, it will probably be firmer than that and it will get firmer throughout the week, if the last several years are anything to go by, although this will not necessarily be reflected in the official going descriptions.
