Classy Flat performer Distant Memories has moved to Tom Taaffe in Ireland to start a hurdling career.
The five-year-old gelding graduated from handicaps to Group company when trained by Tom Tate in Yorkshire, winning last year's Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor and finishing third to Cirrus Des Aigles in the Prix Dollar.
He started off this season by chasing home Await The Dawn at Chester and has also won a Listed race at Pontefract.
Distant Memories is owned by Jim and Fitri Hay, and while Taaffe was not in the position to discuss ownership details at this stage, he said: "The horse has arrived and he is hopefully going to go hurdling."
After race at Limerick Tue, 27th Dec, 2011 (1st) that's only our second runner for Jim and Fitri Hay and we're absolutely delighted to get a winner for them. We'll take it one step at a time with Distant Memories and may go to Naas at the end of next month for a novice hurdle. T J Taaffe
