Neil Mulholland is mapping out a plan for his new recruit Mad Max which he hopes will culminate in next year's John Smith's Grand National.

The giant gelding has moved to the stable of the upwardly mobile Mulholland from Nicky Henderson, having slightly stagnated after respectable runs in the Paddy Power Gold Cup and Victor Chandler Chase.

"He's doing very well," the trainer told At The Races.

"He's had a couple of wind operations in his time and is going to have another little one shortly.

"When the owners came to the yard they said that long-term they would like to go for the National. I was hoping we could have him back maybe for a look at the Becher Chase, so we'll see what happens."

Hi rev how are you?

Crisp almost did it, only Red Rum and Dickie Pitman foiling that plan.

I do however agree with Howdi's assessment of the race.

I am in fine fettle cheers - looking forward to the jumps proper: not a bad card at Uttox tomorrow, may make the journey north.

As for Mad Max winning a GN - I would nearly give up drinking!!!!!
