Cool

Irish Point to Pointers accounted for 1 in every 6 runners at Cheltenham.

1 in every 6 winners was once an Irish Point to Pointer

Irish Pointers enjoyed :

Four Winners

Seven seconds

Six Thirds and

Four Fourths

In total 73 former Irish Pointers competed at Cheltenham this week.

Of the 73 former pointers 26 of them finished in the first 5 35%.

16 winners were ridden by riders who had once ridden in Point to Points

All four Championship races were won by riders who once rode at some point in Irish Point to Points

Irish Field Champions Davy Russell and Derek O’Connor both scored two winners apiece

Former GAIN Novice Champion Andrew Lynch also scored two winners

All the placings were filled by Irish Pointers in the Sun Alliance chase giving plenty of depth in future chasing talent.

Since 1994 in the last eighteen runnings of the Cheltenham Gold Cup there have been only three renewals which did NOT have an Irish Point to Pointer in the first four. Denman second this year.

Ah, statistics..... Since you offer no opinion on what they add up to, it's hard to know what you're trying to show. 4/27 is nearer 1/7 than 1/6, but hey ho. Even accounting for Zemskys fortuitous big priced win, when young Twisty-D contrived to fall off Baby Run, you would still have returned a level steaks loss backing all of these. If Zemsky got beat, then it's 1/9 and you've taken a battering by the bookies.
With that in mind, I will be avoiding all ex-Irish P2Pers at future festivals........ or maybe I'll not give it too much significance Cool

dessie Zemsky..lol..thats the sae as sayin "if mu aunt had balls she'd be my uncle"...If if if...the first 3 had to have fallen in the gold cup i'd have won on the race...Stats are facts of life . .Ifs are dreams

True, and you're well within my rights to pull me up on that, the record books will only note Zemskys victory. I was merely highlighting the fact that you got a relatively lucky 33/1 winner in there and still lost out to level stakes. That's what the stats say to me, although admittedly, one year is hardly a workable sample.

Desmond irish bred horses win over 50% of all festival races. I personally don't care about breeding once there is form in the book. Form is proper evidence breeding is a guide.
