dwm767 i have put up some similar thoughts on the finians rainbow thread

What did Oiseaux de Nuit win off in the Grand Annual? I know he was about third or fourth in the handicap on the day so about 145-ish?
If things pan out like the OP suggests, then it will be interesting to see what OdN's revised mark is now as he didn't look overly-extended in winning the GA and he is now a C&D winner. Just a thought. |
|
By:
I took a similar view with French Opera early this season Roger and of course Oh Crick tried to step up a couple of seasons back. I think if they ran in the GA then it's cos they're not quite top drawer.
|
|
By:
Generally I'd agree but it's rare you get something coming out the top of the handicap and winning the GA as easily as OdN
...and, like the OP said, it could be weak CC next season given the scenario outlined. Just another one to throw into the melting pot really. I'd also want to see the speed figure OdN achieved last week too. |

As I said on the CH thread I took the 8s Spbet offered Sizing Europe straight after his win this time. Looked a blinding price even though I took the 10s this year I played up some of my winnings and I can't see anyhing at the moment to beat him. Still a long time to go though.
Said in the RP today looks like they will stick to 2 miles with him now. Great stuff. |

Flat Out wins next year, I took 33/1.
It'll be a terrible renewal and Mullins and the rest really really rate Flat Out. Why not he was 5th in the Supreme last year just behind Oscar Whiskey and jumps very well other than Zeb-esque silly mitakes. I also took 33/1 on Sizing Europe for the Gold Cup as he's being stepped in trip again, plus the e/w double at over 1000/1 |

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if a novice won next year's Champion Chase. Arkle at this stage looks fairly sh it hot and there must be at least one superstar amongst them who could step up to the plate
|

By:
Very good point Troubler. I'd take Peddlers or thousand Stars to j1zz up in the champ chase.
|
|
By:
Sizing - will be 10 next year
Zebbo/Captain Cee Bee - too old Golden Silver - unlikely to get his ground to give him a winning chance Captain Chris - would probably place, but going up in trip? Rest in the Arkle were mince Master Minded - gone Somersby - up in trip and not good enough Noble Prince - do me a favour Tataniano - might be of interest on rattling fast ground, but bypassed the festival last 2 years so no reason he won't again its all set up for a novice imo |
|
By:
I love the Noble Prince one,
that 2m4f was a race full of mincers. Peddlers Cross already won a p2p and he is seriously sexy gravy and the 2nd best hurdler in the land to boot plus stays further. He's a raging hard on for Arkle stats (AR would love him) and if he that super gravy for the Arkle then Champ Chase is simples. |

By:
AR likes Sprinter Sacre
![]() Peddler is a monster plain and simple |
|

My post appears to have disappeared
![]() AR likes Sprinter Sacre iirc, Peddlers is serious j izzbomb™ material |

there they are
![]() weren't showing up for me ![]() |

anything Hendo has that goes for the Arkle he likes, dc
![]() Peddlers is a freak of nature, he's a chaser that got within a length of the best hurdler since Istabraq. Simples back Peddlers to beat Binocular in the Aintree Hurdle, if he loses at Aintree 100% Arkle bound so be ready to take the 12/1 for the Arkle. |

Just having a look at the markes on oddschecker, absolutely pmsl at B365s prices

Check out b0yles price for oscars well in champion hurdle
![]() |
|
By:
Just noticed that, 8/1 ffs
![]() 11/8 Big Buck's and 5/2 Grands Crus in the stayers, 6/4 freely available and 13/8 in a place for BB and 6/1 Grands Crus is available with with PP what a joke of a company |
|
By:
Yeah at least PadyP knows Grands Crus is going chasing so is happy to offer 6's.
Why on earth would anyone take 5/2 on grand Crus for next years stayers!!! He was bigger than that on the day this year and was beaten. Why bother giving antepost prices? |
|
By:
Ante post betting is dead because not enough people bet on them, therefore the prices hardly and so you often get a bigger SP! Seemed to be the trend this year anyway!
|
|
By:
*Prices hardly move

In the RP today about Sizing Europe:
De Bromhead said 'Having spoken with his owners Alan and Ann Potts, we are going to stick to 2 miles with him.' |
|
By:
if thats the case, injury free,he wins again imo
That was the best 2m chase performance i have seen for many a year, simply could not find a single fault with that display. |
|
By:
Aye if he sticks to 2 miles he'll be hard to beat.
|
|
By:
Best trial for the Champ chase is previous yrs arkle, only two to take out of the race, Cap Chris (Prob will step up in trip) & Finians rainbow, admittedly Sizing will be hard to beat again, but Finians will do for me.
