did the high street bookies (particularly Hills) pay first four in the Triumph Hurdle?

I think the tote only paid first three but Ch4 gave the results of the first 4 home and I can't remember if Hills were first four.

H ills, Laddies, Korals and the Tot e all paid on the first 4.The problem is (as i found out last year)is that it was an extra place promotion on the day of the race, ante post bets were the first 3 only.

Thanks Paddy.  My bet was on the day of the race, it was a special bet (Ruby Walsh to have 2 horses placed, Sam Winner & Kauto Star)

previous years was  triumph 123     or 1234   
       AP   paddypoor was 123   never spotted  it untill  after the event looking  up SAM -WINNER   LOOSING PLACE BETS  monumental mistake for m e

The Triumph was always places on the first 4 until they brought in the Fred Winter which brought the field sizes down. They then went first 3 ante post and first 4 on the day of the race as a special promotion. Ironically this year there were 23 runners, what would have been a normal sized Triumph field in the old days.
