Long Run to head to Punchestown

Doubt he'll be risked on the potentially fast ground at Punchestown.

Long Run had no more than a minor battle scar to show off when he paraded at Nicky Henderson's stable on Saturday morning, but it is unlikely it will harm him too much with connections keen to race him again this season.

The six-year-old scraped the skin off a small area on the right side of his head when knocking it on the horsebox on the journey home to Lambourn.

Importantly, though, Long Run's tendons were ice cool, leaving Henderson and owner Robert Waley-Cohen pondering another race.

No decision will be made for at least a week because Henderson is anxious to see how the son of Cadoudal recovers from Cheltenham, in which he lost around 15kg - a little more thanaverage.

Waley-Cohen, whose son Sam partnered Long Run, said: "I'd love to take him back to France for the Prix Murat and then the Grand-Steeple Chase de Paris. Otherwise there is the option of going to Aintree but we'll see how he comes out of this race in the next week or so before making a plan."

Henderson joked: "Long Run clocked such a fast time I obviously ran him in the wrong Gold Cup. It should have been the Ascot one!"
