Is the drift due to ground / Mullins success today ? I thought this horse looked the real thing?

I guess Zaidpour let the form down a little today (although OW did beat him quite easily).

Any reason to think he won't go on the ground? Any comments from jockey/trainer about the ground?

I am on and a touch edgy !  His run on good ground at Punchestown wasnt too flash.
Add to this Willie Mullins comments (however misleading it may be...) that So Young was his best chance of the meeting it probably explains the price differential
Report Brooksielad March 15, 2011 9:23 PM GMT
breeding suggests he'll improve again for the ground, jockey has already said he thinks he'll improve for the ground aswell so that isn't a worry.

The only reason i could guess he's drifting is possibly because he hasn't traveled over very well but thats purely an assumption.

Zaidpour had a bad time of it when cue card ran down him and nearly brought him down then Zaidpour hit the following hurdle just at a time where the front lot were getting their skates on, he'd of finished closer otherwise, so don't knock the form.

Could see oscar well if everything is ok going off fav tomorrow.

Trainer said he's travelled over fine. Agree on breeding he should be at least as good on better ground.

Won't go off fav' though with the confidence around So Young.
Report mythical prince March 15, 2011 10:33 PM GMT
surely with its advantage over so young in terms of form, speed figures etc the betting should be the other way around
Report sintonian March 15, 2011 11:38 PM GMT
Yep.

im on anyway, should go close all thing being equal. connections are confdient.

Oscars is my banker of the meeting so fingers crossed. Everything seems fine though and I can't wait until 2.05pm. All things considered he really should be favourite.

Its a case of potential against proven form. There is 19 pounds on timeform ratings but with So Young having the big P. Looks to be a cracking race again with a number of improving horses. I thought that So Young has shortened up significantly to reduce any value that there was in him but Mullins has been very positive on his chances.

Most experts that I have heard expressing an opinion seem to think that he needs softer ground. Clearly has the best form
Report Platini March 16, 2011 2:14 PM GMT
looked in the bag till that awful mistake.
Report Brooksielad March 16, 2011 2:27 PM GMT
Scary pulled his head off all away around but still came there the best horse and if it wasnt for that mistake that stopped him dead would of won. Best horse just finished 4th
Report unclepuncle March 16, 2011 2:40 PM GMT
Wouldn't have won even without the mistake - did too much too soon (or at least the jockey didCry)just like Sprinter Sacre yesterday, but he went through the race as easily the best (i.e. classiest) horse and I'll be looking for the best price on next years Arkle[;)]
Report Joist March 16, 2011 3:06 PM GMT
Next year's Arkle shaping up to be a right cracker if Oscars, Peddlers, Spirit Son, get there
