SI go 16.5-18 on the biggest winning distance at the Festival this season.
OK, they are probably sucking in novicey buyers in time honoured fashion..
But those victims would doubtless be interested to know that in the last 457 Festival races since 1988, just 7 (yes seven) winners would have won you money at those prices.
Those seven were:
Front Line of Jonjo's 30L in 1995 Looks Like Trouble won the RSA 30L (but who would have come second had Nick Dundee stood up, probably by 12-15L, but that's another argument) Rushing Wild (25L)- Hunter chase: say no more Fantus (25L)- Hunter chase...erm say no more Ventana Canyon- 20L Master Minded- 19L (one of the greatest Festival performances of my and anyone else's lifetime) Earthmover- Hunter chase...etc etc.
Hors La Loi won by 17L, so fell within the spread, but every other one of the 449 winners won by 16L or less.
