When the ground gets on the quick side I like to side with the flat breds....just think they have too much speed than the NH breds....theory backed up by the likes of Arcalis and Ebazyian in recent seasons.

I'm going for Gibb River at +20/1.

He's a lovely big sort, by Mr Greenely out of mare whose a 1/2 sister to the Oaks winner Love Divine. nice. Handles faster ground nicely, decent form when back on the flat (85 rated at one point) and he's flown through 3 easy novice hurdle races on the bridle by wide margins.

On the won hand you'd like to have seen him step up in class but on the other hand its given him a nice chance to really learn the game and sort his jumping out. He's got the speed to win this...just needed to learn the jumping lark.

Looks the stable 3rd string with Tinkler on board but Hendo says not to discount him.

I like him. he could be anything. time to find out!

I agree, this horse could be anything and certainly can improve on what its acheived. When i watched his last win i thought this was a Cheltenham horse.Clearly he has to improve but 25-1 is nice value.

i think cue card is a very good horse, just got 1 or 2 niggling doubts.

last time out was well beaten by menorah nad the 3rd horse silviniaco conti was just 1/2l behind cue card. This horse was beaten 24l next time out and was soon beaten.

The race before although cue card was mightly impressive he beat dunraven storm by 8l that horse was then beaten next time out by 17l at 1/2. The winner Toubab has been well beaten in his 2 subsequent races.

The previous race he beat Dear sam, who failed to win any of his next 2 races.

So form isnt as solid as everyone says, also what does he have to offer when he is of the bridle? maybe not a huge amount as shown against menorah.

A 15 runner race, a bit of hargy bargy, a few smart looking unexposed types, including spirit son, a winner by 21l last time out.

At a bit of a price i put forward Gibb River e/w. Highly tried on the flat, but often just got outpaced by 1 or 2 and may not have been the most genuine. However scince hurdling the horse has come on leaps and bounds, winning very easily last time out by 12l with the runner up winning easily next time out. 25/1 at joe co r als, looks a value e/w bet.

gibb river had a minor setback about 2 weeks ago, had a leg swell up and missed some work, they worked him last friday and he was ok to run but it was felt that everyone would have been happier if he had had another piece of work (had previously worked well against njh's other novices)

the reason his flat form is a bit iffy is that he was a shell of a horse, a real baby and has taken alot of time to mature, he has bags of ability but he was just too immature on the flat when with pch

just to pick up on richard pitman, he is a good friend of the racing manager who manages gibb river for corbett stud hence his knowledge of the horse

he'd not mind better ground, question mark apart from the injury is what will he find coming up the hill when the gun goes to his head

he's a lovely horse and the plan is to go novice chasing next yr unless he wins the supreme, gl to those who have a few quid
