They weren't nrnb in the summer when a lot of us started backing him!
Don't like the firm but the only shop in our town!
Will stick to online betting from now!

Carols no refund at all and Laddies only refunding 3 months worth while the others are refunding 12 months worth of Binocular bets Shocked

Should not be refunds on ante post bets full stop.

Thats the game you choose to play.

The gesture to refund all bets on him has been made by other bookies but not Laddies and Carols ... that's it.
By:

When: 13 Mar 11 15:37
i can't believe people are complaining about non runners from bets they've had since last summer Shocked

have a go at hendo, but not the bookies who took your dough
By:
eric_morris
When: 13 Mar 11 15:42
Not complaining pointing it out I know the risks Happy

However lets not have this positive PR stuff for going NRNB early when the other firms are refunding 12 months of bets and them only 3 months.
By:
Tucho
When: 13 Mar 11 15:48
they went NRNB back in december, it was before the king george, they went nrnb on KG and big 4 at cheltenham at the same time

so they are refunding 3 months worth of bets, is that not enough?

and as for the firms doing good will gestures etc, have they taken as much money as ladbrooks? they are the industry leader afterall, lads are a business (a struggling one at that depending on who you listen to) they probably just can't afford to give away free money
By:
eric_morris
When: 13 Mar 11 15:49
No it was the 28th November.

So they are only refunding 3 months out of 12 on Binocular and have been only 5/2 or 11/4 a while anyway while NRNB shorter than anyone else.

They are not making the same gesture as the others and are putting commercial interests ahead of goodwill at the start of the biggest meeting of the year ... simples.

Think the gesture by the other bookies is fanatastic and given a lot of us a reprieve.

For those not choosing to offer the gesture it,s simple, avoid doing business with them, i know the first point of call for me next week will be 365 and i won,t even be checking in with lads or Korals.

Anyone know if Toatsport are following suit or vc.bet for that matter?
By:

When: 13 Mar 11 16:11
If certain bookmakers want to give the stakes back for good PR and free press before the start of the festival that's fair enough.
I bet ante-post and have backed many a nr in my day, that's the risk you take.
imagine if Betfair said they where voiding all Backs/lays on Binocular, there would be murder on here.
But i dont see one thread on here calling for that, lets just knock the high st firms as usual.
By:
TITCH 1
When: 13 Mar 11 16:15
Its not a case of knocking the high street bookies, it,s a case of as a punter you try top get the best deals out there, you are increasing your chances of goodwill gestures in certain circumstances with some bookies more than others.

We all have that choice.
By:
mr mulligan
When: 13 Mar 11 16:21
correct, but is any self respecting punter going to refuse betting with one of the books that havent refunded if for example they are offering 14-1 on their fancy and its only 10's with the refunders! i doubt it whatever drivel is spouted on here.
By:

When: 13 Mar 11 16:22
I'm not knocking any of the firms just glad to get some returns on my bets.
Surprised and delighted by Paddypower and Hills today.
By:
BOFF
When: 13 Mar 11 16:26
you watch paddy power pay the first 6 places in the coral cup, just for the wind up value! Surely Simon Clare is just making bad press for himself and his sponsored race will become lost in the bad press. Yes i have backed bino with koral and i dont think i should get my money back, but koral reputation maybe slightly tarnished after this week.
By:

I think you choose where to take your business and with good reason.

I bet with 365 because :

Free bet on tv with any horse winner over 4-1
Free bet on tv with any dog winner over 2-1
Free bet placed in account after several bets placed
Competetive pricing on most markets

Oh yeah, and they make concessions (like today) when we all agree no one expected it.
By:
TITCH 1

The extra 4 points in comparison loses it,s significance even though as punters we are all after the best prices.
By:
mr mulligan
When: 13 Mar 11 16:36
Sadly, high st customers (who are the bread and butter for bookies) dont care about reputations..Fact.
They choose their office of choice firstly by location, secondly by service they receive from staff.
The value merchants, phone and internet customers, choose their bookmakers by checking oddschecker, seeing who is best price or best terms(e.w. 1st 5).
Korals will still be full of customers next week whether they refund or not..another fact.
By:
BOFF
When: 13 Mar 11 16:48
mr mulligan, are you sure Koral shops will be full next week?
i bet 95% with paddy power and now regretting my error, to say betting shops will be full next week is simply not true, maybe full of fobt loons but not full of horse racing punters!!!
the horse racing punters will be on the net or the phone  betting with paddy!
By:
mr mulligan
When: 13 Mar 11 16:52
Fobt loons contribute over 50% of gross win for high st books now. Knowledgeable customers left the high st years ago, will still be busy for those cash punters who like the buzz and dont like using bank accounts(in case mrs finds out!)
By:
BOFF
When: 13 Mar 11 16:58
just think it's a pr mistake, mr clare seemed happy to refund on the 545 wolverhampton the other week, but not when the whole racing world is looking, think he may have a tough week convicing some punters to come back. just my opnion reagrdless whether i had backed bino or not.
By:

When: 13 Mar 11 17:01
mr mulligan raises an irrelevant and obvious point re betting shops while missing the relevant point.

Telephone customers are their biggest clients not betting shop punters. Not only do they have to pfaff around finding their prices now as they withdrew from oddschecker they also know they are not quite as valued customers of theirs as they are of Hills, St James and PPowers are. When a price is the same with both those large bettors will steer away from Laddies now losing them a lot of custom.
By:
mr mulligan
When: 13 Mar 11 17:01
they(korals) have certainly been cornered by all other books refunding, would be interested if laddies will refund all bets before november.
But what if they have hedged on here, double whammy !
By:
Banks.
When: 13 Mar 11 17:05
Are Betfair layers refunding too?

Absolutely ridiculous to consider it as anything other than a bonus if firm choose to refund. To suggest that those firms who don't are acting unreasonably is staggering.

Just bad for future business.

When: 13 Mar 11 17:17
Eric "Telephone customers are their biggest clients not betting shop punters" ha ha, look at their interim results, telephone business made a loss of 400k. Over the counter business in shops gross win of 720 million. telephone business for all big three is now insignificant, internet is a different story that is still showing growth. They could close down their telephone business tomorrow and it would not make a difference.
By:

When: 13 Mar 11 17:33
Well there biggest bettors dont get on via the internet or shops I dont care what their results for 1 year say.

Maybe their biggest customers had a good year and they dont feel as charitable as the other bookies at the moment. You may be saying they are not the company to go to for offers now if that is the case and the absence of this gesture will be a sign of the future betting with them

Some of the Coolmore dudes confidantes of Dillon shareholders in Laddies reminds me of St Nick missing the Derby now shareholders copping for the Champion Hurdle fav as well.
By:

When: 13 Mar 11 23:02
mr mulligan ... there isnt enough liquidity in the markets early here for them to have hedged.

the ones who refund are the ones who haven't laid to any real amounts.  I am surprised there is the constant debate about which firms are doing what.  PP, as an example, never refund if they have laid something sizeable.  I think some people on here (I genuinely apologise for this sounding patronising) buy the pathetic PR drivel about massive liabilities and gestures of goodwill from these bookmakers and you would be pretty surprised at just how minor ante post liabilities are.

Coral are particularly pathetic though.  They will follow Ladbrokes.  Always have and always will.
