finishes last imo

Can certainly see a situation arising where the others allow it to get too far in front. Could hold onto a place on decent ground IMO.

I THINK THE HORSE,  IF  THEY  HAVE GOT TO THE BOTTOM OF HIS HEALTH ISSUES, IS OVERPRICED AND ASSUMING THEY HAVE ,OTHERWISE THEY WOULDNT BE RUNNING HIM,, HE WILL RUN WELL,. I PREDICT A GAMBLE. FOR A PLACE ANYWAY
Report Tucho March 13, 2011 1:26 PM GMT
yep, can't afford to give him too much rope, they might not see him again

I've had a few quid on at 66s. The form behind Bino two runs back could be really solid and put him bang there with every chance. If he can repeat that he is excellent value even now. When there is only one likely front runner against a field of horses coming late then the race is open to a shock result. Overturn is far better than the 66s he was before Bino was out, he could be as good as the others and discounting him after just one poor run is foolish.

That said Overturn is only a small speculative bet for me and I'm happy with my main selection in the race[;)].

Horse is rated 163 over hurdles, will love the ground, jockey has already ridden him to win the Galway Plate - well worth an e/w punt at least
Report Rondetto March 13, 2011 4:44 PM GMT
Well I never though Make A Stand could win from the front but he did. However he was reportedly very fit when Binocular made him look like what he is, a handicapper.

There is a way he could win but using a sniper rifle is against BHA regulationsLaugh
Report Harchibaldy March 13, 2011 6:35 PM GMT
Rondetto - you may well end up the new Money Tree Devil He is after all, a big outsider and he's still 10's for the frame, so there's not much kudos in making him a lay - however, you could pay for your views. We all have our opinions on how the race will be run and as I've mentioned before, I'd find it difficult to believe that he's a genuine pacemaker (I might be wrong though) and if Thousand Stars keeps out of his face, he might be very comfortable at the front end and most importantly, get a breather in, to finish off the race. He's a very tough horse and he could cause a shock. One huge danger has defected today and I think he's terrific value. I'd really like to hear McCain's thoughts on how he will be ridden.
Report Harchibaldy March 13, 2011 8:25 PM GMT
Is anyone in the know about Overturn's role in the race? I'd be very surprised if he was employed as a pacemaker, and it's just coincidence he's a front-runner. If anyone thinks he is, then I can't think of a better pacemaker EVER! I know pacemakers have won Group/Grade Ones but at the time they ran, they were definitely in there to assist a better fancied first string.

Spoke to Graham Lee on Thursday and he's definitely going to make the running Happy

doogs what else  does he fancy
Report Harchibaldy March 13, 2011 9:08 PM GMT
Doogs - but what is his role? He can't be there for Peddlers Cross can he? Is he running on his own merit? I can't seem to find a definite answer to this anywhere.

De Boitron e/w in the Grand Annual
Hopeful but not confident about KK

H - Never said anything specifically about Peddlers but his tip for the race was Binocular (before today's news) and he thought that Peddlers would chase him home.  So if you read into that he thinks Peddlers is a better horse than Overturn but Overturn still has an e/w chance - more so now that Bino is out
Report Harchibaldy March 13, 2011 10:13 PM GMT
Thanks Doogs - can you give him a ring and ask him now, or is it past the cut-off point? Grin

Harchibald think about it. Peddler's Cross won the Neptune over 2 miles 5 furlongs and was sent there because Donald McCain believed that was his best trip.Hard to argue with the man on that.

His form over 2 miles beating Starluck is well short of what Champion Hurdle standard was a last year let alone this year. That's not to say he can't improve on his Newcastle run as anyone who knocks an unbeaten horse at this level would have to be nuts. However, He more than any of the front 3 needs this race to be run at a very past pace so his stamina comes into play and I'm pretty sure he'll attempt to go to the front himself sooner than later.

That isn't rocket science and as Overturn's latest form is pretty poor I'd say he is here for one reason and one reason only and that's to ensure there is no hanging about.

If he does his job he will be so knackered after the 3rd last my granny could run past him in a wheelchair. Horse should be 1000 to be placed as any remote chance he had was gone the minute they assigned him with the roll he has.
Report Harchibaldy March 14, 2011 1:34 PM GMT
Rondetto - think about it? I've done that quite a lot! I'll believe it when I see it as he's too good for that role - have you ever seen a pacemaker of his quality? I respect your views but when analysing a field, I've tried to focus on the negative, which doesn't mean I'm anti Peddlers Cross, just that I think he's got a lot to prove for one so short. Just as I've done with Hurricane Fly as I'm sure you can gauge just how high I rate him, but I'm looking for possible chinks in his armour. For the life of me I cannot understand why Thousand Stars is half Overturn's odds, and do you think there's a possibility that Overturn could let TS take him along until he's ready to move? It's a fascinating affair and nobody seems to be revealing their game-plans too soon.
Report Rondetto March 14, 2011 2:06 PM GMT
No! My understanding is that Thousands Stars isn't going to Cheltenham as a pacemaker for Hurricane Fly and that's why he's the price he is. He may only have won the County but he acts on the course which is a big plus and could run way beyond what people expect. Been a fair bit of EW money for the horse.

I would expect Thousands Stars to be held up and make his move about the same time as Hurricane Fly or just before.
Report Harchibaldy March 14, 2011 2:56 PM GMT
Thanks Rondetto - I suspected that due to the price but unfortunately, I'm not 'in the know' so I have to get by with the scraps I'm thrown Sad FWIW, I think he's got a mountain to climb despite having that crucial course experience.
Report FOYLESWAR March 14, 2011 3:34 PM GMT
for the life of me i cant see thousand stars making the running and setting the race up for a finisher he is clearly better coming from off a strong gallop ,if overturn dont take them along i dont know who will he is the most likeleist to as the owner has him and peddlers ,if not it could be a muddling pace unless something takes up the mantle .
