It would be bad for business for whoever doesn't pay out. I'd be boycotting them even when i don't hold a Binocular bet with them.

I had bets with ladbrokes NRNB so got that back. I had bets with Hills ante post and they have refunded which is as the title stated and that is a great gesture. Bet 365 have always treated me great but on this occasion no refund and please note I accept that decision fully. I expected to lose with Hills as well so it was a nice suprise to be refunded.

Paddy Power is refunding ALL losing ante-post singles on Binocular to win Champion Hurdle & if your antepost bet was 1 leg of a multiple, leg is voided and the remainder stands.

I can't agree with bet365 not paying out. The facts are that as one of the main bookmakers they are guaranteed big profits this festival. I think it's their duty to pay back on this particular non runner.

Champion Hurdle. The breaking news on Sunday morning that reigning champion Binocular will not contest Tuesday's Stan James Champion Hurdle led to plenty of reaction from bookmakers. Paddy Power were the first firm to refund all antepost bets on Nicky Henderson's charge, and they were soon joined by both William Hill and Stan James Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said, 'With many people holding Antepost bets since Binocular's win last year, his last-minute exit could have left punters on the backfoot before Cheltenham has even started. However, William Hill are prepared to take a six-figure blow so the meeting can be started on a level playing field.' Meanwhile Neil Morrice, of sponsors Stan James, said: "Due to the circumstances of the enforced defection of Binocular from our race, Stan James will refund all Champion Hurdle bets struck on the horse prior to today's news. As big race sponsors we feel compelled to treat the betting public in the fairest way by making this concession, whilst also transferring the offer of a free bet should Binocular win to the race's new joint-favourite, Hurricane Fly. "We share the disappointment of Binocular's defection with his sporting connections." More bookmakers followed suit, with Sky Bet quick on their rivals' heels. Matt Doyle of Sky Bet said: 'The loss of the favourite from the Champion Hurdle field is a massive blow for punters and we have taken the decision to refund all win and each-way single bets placed on Binocular.' That information is related to internet, mobile, phone punters only! As usual, like me, shop punters get the sharp edge of the stick! Utterly disgraceful! I have a voucher placed in shop, went in this morning and was told the above information. Just cannot believe it! So far this Sunday i have gone from a immediate low, to a well ok i have other vouchers that are now have very tasty prices on and 4 places, to a high when i realised they would be refunding to feeling utterly cheated all in one morning! |

Yes they can. Other firms are paying out and so should they. The bookies are in for a big festival because of the amount of contenders for each race. Any refund would be peanuts. |

Graeme - I do understand the situation for all punters. I try to win just like every other punter and do my level best to bet best prices etc but betting ante post is a risk we take.
Betting at 3-1 is 25% of the book to a bookie. They can't realistically refund 25% of the book or they will be out of business. Refunds are put out now hoping you will back with the money over the festival. Unclepuncle - Bet 365 have never treated me with anything other than great respect. You should contact them and state your bet etc. They may not make it a non-runner but I would imagine they would make a good will gesture to you. |
