The guy does a fantastic job in ensuring racing goes ahead in the depths of winter but his official going descriptions cannot be relied upon (and are often amended during racing) and he often comes across as smug when in front of the TV cameras.
Is this enough to justify my intense dislike of the man? Does the bad really outweigh the good?

The key issue appears to be his misleading going reports for The Festival, particularly on the Tuesday. Everyone and his wife on Betfair realises the actual going is faster than Claisse states, in which case, from a purely mercenary point of view, where's the problem. Arguably it's an angle we ('the sharper minds') can exploit against the 'mugs' who believe the official report. If Claisse's knockers (and one very vocal one in particular) have racing's wider appeal at their hearts and feel that Claisse is ruining the general public's appreciation of Festival by issuing a going report that he knows is wrong, well I applaud you for your sensitivity to this issue. If this is your motive then fine, but it's hardly the invasion of Poland. If you are p1$$ed off with the man for his seemingly limitless desire to wring the maximum out of his few days in the publicity and PR sunshine for the first week or so in March every year, then you're spot on. He can stick his stupid blog where the sun don't shine - hey up, we're back to the weather again! |

 , fair enoughIts not just him, i just think that its pointless spending 3k per time on a going stick that isnt used properly(what was the point of leaving grand crus cleeve victory on a reading that wasn't updated for 4 days which made it seem faster than the champion hurdle of 2010??) As you'd imagine ive quite a list of clerks who's descriptions are taken with a liberal dose of salt |

I enquired about buying one and trying to smuggle it in for Glorious Goodwood
i was imagining seeing Seamus's boat race as i tried to do a reading across the course on Stewards Cup day They probably would have given at least a monkey for them a few years ago when they were flush  |
