Just watched again.

Woolcombe Folly was miles behind! Mad Max might've got close to winning if he had n't hit second last hard.

I'm sad so have them on Sky + - you might get 'em on RUK site, not sure whether you need to subscribe tho' - sure someone on here will have a clever link.

If I had the facility to record the races I would be sad too.

or if you simply search for a horse on sporting life you can see it's form and rewatch it's races.

Didn't Woolcombe Folly fall at Ditcheat in preperation?

Mad Max was going well when he made the blunder but in hindsight I doubt would've found much. Maybe could've finished third.

Yeah WF had an horrific fall the week before, knocked Sam Thomas out of the festival

Dont agree re Mad max finishing 3rd at best. If you watch the four principals run from the last fence to the line, Mad max doesn't lose any more ground on the first three in the last half furlong. Without that desperate mistake 3 out he may well have had a huge say in the finish. Also who's to say that this tubing op won't have a significant positive effect (compared to Denmans breathing op this has really gone under the radar). I still don't think he'll win but for those on this forum who keep waxing lyrical about the chances of Sizing Europe, I dont think there'l be much between those two and Mad Max is 3 times the price.....Now if only all this food for thought put food on my table!

That's pretty much the way I see it yort but on the same basis I think Sizing Europe is overpriced in comparison to Somersby.

I'd forgotten about the WF fall which is valid and worth factoring in but on the Arkle evidence from last year I'd prefer to be with SE and MM and against WF and Somersby.

Of course, you can't take that one piece of evidence in isolation - I agree with those who think Big Zeb should be favourite but Golden Silver is very close to him (at least) based on the Irish form - but will he act around Cheltenham at third time of asking?

Champion Chase certainly no two horse race this year for me.

I think the CC this year is between MM and SE and have backed both respectively.

Agree with seathestars. I think the second last being in the home straight just after a turn, racing at full pelt will be against the likes of mad max and big zeb.

I was lumpy each way on Mad Max and was very very excited as they came down the hill, I genuinely believe he would have won the race without the mistake.
Then again it is Cheltenham, if you can't jump fences plan your year around Royal Ascot

ReaseH.....Nothing wrong with sky+,great way to prepare for this festival by watching last years races.

Sizing interestingly weak in the market pre race,CCB saw plenty money, found to have bled post race. Two things stood out for me,the jumping of the winner and somersby.SE was foot perfect, very rare for a novice and he looked to relish the ground, travelling like the winner from some way out.

Somersby on the other hand seemed to prop at several fences, not fluent and landing awkwardly. In hindsight he ran a marvellous race to get so close to the winner.Fwiw I thought the winner was dossing near the line and may have had a little left in the tank.

Really looking forward to the champ chase this year, great race in prospect.

In my opinion Sizing idled in front because he had been switched off for 95 per cent of the race. True that he benefited from Mad Max's mistakes. If Sizing had kicked on and found anything would have won 10 lengths at least.

Ought to be 2nd or 3rd fav for the QM and a miles better bet than similarly priced CCB.

cracking each way bet. has won at festival, beating a few of the field. double figures is mad imo. excluding the 10 handicaps, not many festival winners go off double figures the year after?! cue card, binocular, menorah, peddlers cross, imperial commander, big bucks, big zeb, quevega and baby run all single figures, peddlers the only one of those over 5/1.... soldatino now running in a handicap, a new story and poker de sivola both running in x-country at 10/1 and 14/1, which leaves berties dream (running against arguably the 2 strongest horses of the week) and albertas run, as the only other winners from last year's festival to go off at double figures (ballabriggs not running)
