1) I've got two tickets for Tatts enclosure on the Tuesday. Am i able to upgrade these to Club enclosure tickets on the day? (Also is it worth doing this?)

2) As far as i can make out the last race goes off at 5.15. Have to be back at the station for 6.15 to get train home, will I have enough time to get back to station if i left straight after the last?

Cheers in advance

2) If you leave as soon as the horses cross the line and run the first few hundred yards you'll make it.

It's a long walk but as long as you walk very fast you can do it.

I'm a layer at 11/8 until I see evidence that the OP is fit and not drunk.

It's further than you think and would need planning and effort to make it.

If you're coming from the station why not get one of the bus shuttles ?
You'll have enough time to pop into the Midland for a swift half, ge talking to someone even more p1ssed than you but reckons he's got all 7 winners for Wednesday, before you know it the best train you can hope for is the 10.45

As long as he doesnt have to cllect winnings he should make it.

Jog the first few hundred yards to get a headstart. 5 minutes will have our man at the bottom of Pittville park.

Then its just a question of keeping up a quick march and 18-20 mins should see him in the town centre.

From there its another 20 mins.

I'm walking almost the same course and distance tomorow to collect my tickets.

I'll see how long i do it in.

I'm at my peak fighting weight!

I'm confident its doable but I'll test the waters before I unload on the 11/8.

50 mins at a brisk walking pace. Timed it last year, though was slowed down by some Irish heavy ground plodders.

1) Me and my old man have done it before easy in 50 minutes - and he's 60 odd!
2) Place last bet via a phone account.

I'm sure anyone could upgrade a ticket in 50 minutes!!Grin

I'd probably opt for just sprinting out of the course and all the way to the bottom of the Park. Let me know if you like and I'm happy to do an 'Overturn' in order to set the pace. Not sure that I get the trip though so you're on your own after that!

Surely the shrewd play is to be ready to shoot right off as they cross the line of the last and hop into a shuttle bus?

Never had problems with this before, normally a queue but never more than 5-10 minutes. The most arduous bit is enduring the aftertimer who's backed every winner today and reckons Niche Market will win the Gold Cup Laugh

^On the shuttle bus that is, obviously!

Some of the b***ocks spoken on those buses defies belief. Packed with drunks who are either at their lowest ebb or at the peak of elation - not a good mix!

It takes us 30mins to walk to the Prince Of Wales :-( 45mins to train station? No chance. Get a piggyback off Usain Bolt I reckon

As for the buses we walked to the course quicker than a bus than left from O'Neills one yearLaughLaugh

Never realised there'd be so many responses! 11/8 would be a decent price, try to run a few kilometres a few times a week so think i'd be ok! Would a taxi be quicker than getting the bus?
By:
Paddy Hair
When: 08 Mar 11 02:24
No the taxi would be held up in the same traffic as the bus.

I've just done it.

The walk up the course is all uphill and a pain in the arse!

If you are considering it - you'll need to jog all the way down to the bottom of Pitville park and keep a brisk pace up all the way.

Its 20 mins from the course to to town centre then another 22-25 mins from there.

My advice would be take your time, grab a beer in town and catch the later train.

Yeah think i might just try and wait a bit after the last, don't know if train tickets are valid on any later trains though, will have to check tomorrow. If Quevega gets beat then all this time stuff isn't an issue as i'll be off after that!
