still think its well worth having a stab at the arkle, absolutley no depth in the race.the bare facts are medermit only just beat him and hes 3-1 fav.i take on bored what  all you doubters say he needs further ect but as he is held in such high regard at home i think we have not seen anywhere near the best of him.

I agree but think owners are adamant they don't want to go Arkle route.

Just hope they therefore don't send Wishfull Thinking the RSA route - that horse in Jewson is trainer and owner's best hope for meeting (followed very close behind by Menorah)
Report eric_morris March 6, 2011 7:29 PM GMT
Wishfull Thinking will not be beating Time For Rupert over 3m or several others in the field who get the trip extremely well. This is the most competitive RSA in memory with a dual Grade 1 winner Boston Angels only around 8th favourite.

Johnson will want to ride both horses and can see the owners shooting themselves in the foot leaving without a winner unless they go Arkle with Captain Chris.

Not only does Captain Chris have a great chance in the Arkle over a course and distance he has jumped well over, Wishfull Thinking has the stables best chance of a Festival win in the Jewson. For Johnson to ride both this is by far the best fit and could return 2 Festival winners for them.

Eric,

Agree with your thoughts completely - however I suspect both will run in Jewson. If they do I would favour WT as you would by the sounds of it
Report eric_morris March 6, 2011 7:40 PM GMT
Yes agree.

The fields for the Arkle, Jewson and RSA are very well defined now so they may be delaying their decision to get an idea of the likely ground conditions. Mind you Claisse will make sure it isnt too fast the first day as normal for the Arkle.

this is what baffles me, capt chris and wishful thinking same owners by running them in the the 2 different races they have 2 VERY GOOD chances plus johnson can ride both plus johnson has said capt chris in the arkle is what he wants.cant see the logic?

YBM talking through his pocket again.
Report unclepuncle March 11, 2011 9:22 AM GMT
Hate to agree with Eric but I'd definitely be running him in the Arkle - I took a punt nrnb last week as I always though it unlikely they would run both in the same race.

You must be joking Banksy, there is no way that Eric would talk through his pocket after the vitriol he poured on all those 'pocket-talkers' over the Starluck/Arkle and IC/King George participations. It's the one thing he hates above anything, he wouldn't have the gall..... would he? Devil

uncle puncle ... not surprised you have got on nrnb for a free arb.

Eric, the deluded fantasist, is still intent on embarrassing himself by maintaining that I said something that I didn't. In fact it was the opposite. Once again, I urge you to TTT the thread. I C&P'd excerpts a few days ago and you, predictably, disappeared up your own fundament. It's almost as if you expect everyone else to, like you, have the attention span of a goldfish and that you can just peddle the same nonsense a couple of days later, now hiding behind the dubious and cowardly claim that you can't read me as you have me blocked.
You're truly a remarkable human being, why you bother posting is beyond me, as you have totally discredited yourself with lies and preposterous aftertimed claims more times than I care to remember. To the point that even you must surely realise that nobody takes anything you say remotely seriously?

If i am an owner i want the BEST chance of winning a Graded Cheltenham race. By running the 2 horses in the one race you have DOUBLED your chance of winning. I like those odds better. :)
Report unclepuncle March 11, 2011 2:35 PM GMT
But what about the old adage of not putting all your eggs in one basketSilly
Report maelduin March 11, 2011 5:43 PM GMT
If someone gave you the following two choices of trying to win a Cheltenham Graded race which one would you pick
1) running 1 horse in each of two races with a 10% and 20% chance of winning or
2) running 2 horses in one race with a 33% chance of winning

Of course RJ would love to to see CC run in the Arkle as then he wouldn't be forced to pick the right one in the Jewson. GL
Report eric_morris March 11, 2011 6:10 PM GMT
CChris has to go Arkle .. if declared on target for it he would go 3rd or 4th fav at around 6/1 on the strength of his run against Medermit which is around his same price the Jewson but the Arkle is a Grade 1 and Jewson just a Grade 2. This suggests he has an equal chance in the Arkle as Jewson. Also removing him from the Jewson gives his stablemate Wishfull Thinking a better chance of winning the Jewson, he will shorten up for that if CChris goes Arkle.

Taking Time For Rupert and around a dozen other classy stayers the RSA when they dont even know Wishfull will stay 3 m means it is a No brainer for connections to go Arkle and Jewson.

Eric Captain Chris is going to the jewson and always has been
Report eric_morris March 11, 2011 6:22 PM GMT
They havent decided, the decision is delayed as the markets show.
Report Goretski March 11, 2011 6:25 PM GMT
Mate, they decided a couple of weeks ago
Report eric_morris March 11, 2011 6:30 PM GMT
You're wrong, the markets tell the story currently.
Report eric_morris March 11, 2011 6:48 PM GMT
Quite the opposite, look at his form last season he travels much better on faster ground giving him more improvement than the others in the Arkle. Hobbs always said he will improve for better ground and that is what he will be getting next week. He will travel on it, will Ghizao also we wont know until the day.
Report Goretski March 11, 2011 6:50 PM GMT
Mate of had it on good word from within the stable about a fortnight ago that they're heading to the jewson with Captain Chris. Not a 2miler, decent ground and a trip is what they're after.
Report maelduin March 11, 2011 6:54 PM GMT
CC is not speedy enough for the Arkle unless of course it's very soft (no chance). To say he has an equal chance in both is silly. He will be 4/1 or less for the Jewson and 7/1 or greater for the Arkle. Connections will be smart and will go home with a Grade 1 (Menorah) & Grade 2 in the bag. IMO.
Report eric_morris March 11, 2011 6:54 PM GMT
We all know what you know and so do the markets currently ... take a look.

Report eric_morris March 15, 2011 6:29 PM GMT
Just as well they didnt take the clueless maelduin and bring on chelts !! advice. Predicted this one spot on over the months really chuffed excellent horse, ground makes all the difference with him. Medermit should have been in the Jewson as Isaid yonks ago.
Report Rondetto March 15, 2011 6:45 PM GMT
Wouldn't have won that either Eric. As predicted he came under pressure early did respond but just lacks that little bit of class that you need to win at the Festival.

Having backed Finian's Rainbow it scared the life out of me when I saw Captain Chris in the field to be honest. H e just looked a different horse in his last race and I was praying he'd go for the longer race. Well done!

Considering that's probably not even his trip I think I'll be having an AP on him for the King George if he's entered.[;)]
Report eric_morris March 15, 2011 6:51 PM GMT
Rondetto I know I was being attacked on here for stating Captain Chris had to go Arkle the last few months because others on different horses in the race were also cr@pping themselves he would be switched. Normal human behaviour ... on here.   Laugh
