Eric's right. All the NRNB merchants have shortened up their prices for no good reason. You might as well wait till the day now. Prices shown now on horses will be much bigger come the day. I personally feel if you have not backed a horse from at least 4 weeks ago, dont bother now. As much as these forums help us with info, they also help the bookies. You only have to see a posi comment about a horse & although punters may follow & put on a few quid the enemy kills all goodwill prices. An example is Bensalem in the Willy Hill, showing about 5's in some places. Apart from the fact it wont win, I am sure the horse will be 7's or above in the papers on The Tues morning. regretably I tend to agree. I think a few years ago when nrnb really took off it was relatively easy to take a decent price on a horse that was sure to go off shorter. This year and for the last couple I think firms have really woken up to their own generosity and tightened things up. Still, it makes for an exhilirating escalation in anticipation, and there's still the odd spot of value around. I tend now to avoid handicaps until later on and focus on the pattern and championship races especially where fields are likley to cut-up (e.g. this year's Gold Cup).
