Gloucester is a shithole FACT. Stay in Chelts until you want to go to sleep is my advice.

Haha. There are some decent places to drink if you know where to look. All depends on what you're looking for though I suppose.

Sonko, yes it tends to get a tad busier during festival week. Your best bet is to stay in Chelt in the evening if you're looking for the raceweek 'buzz' though - last bus to Gloucester is 11.30 and only takes 10 minutes or so. They run night buses on Friday night too.

OK. Bear in mind that the station is a good 20-30 minutes walk from the town centre - probably 30 after a few beers!

Think we paid about £25 - £30 last year for a taxi at about 2am.  If theres about four of you its not too bad

Taxi prices depend on your accept from my experience.
I got a cab into town from Bourton a few years back for £26, I got a cab back with very accommodatimng local lass where she did all the talking and the cab cost £18 !

The place Gloucester is deserted midweek,Chelters being NO exception,Don't go and expect any lively nightlife for the love of god.
