For example £100 at 1.05 = £5 liability per race.

Would I end up 'up' each year? Another thread mentioned the horses such as Merchants Friend, Harchibald and Refinement as examples.

Also, how much would I tie up in each race? It there were 10 runners for example, would it be £50 for the race?

Any thoughts and comments appreciated.

fishing or otherwise, here goes. in a 10 runner race liability would be 5. in a 50 runner race, liability would be 5 etc etc etc

Well not liability - rather tieing it up for the duration of the race.
