Power hoping to floor
Cue Card in Supreme
By Peter Scargill 10:20AM 27 FEB 2011

PADDY POWER are hoping it is third time lucky in the Stan James Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival next month after offering to refund bets on the race if favourite Cue Card wins.

Cousin Vinny and Dunguib have been floored in the festival opener in the last two runnings of the 2m Grade 1 when sent off the hot favourites.

The Colin Tizzard-trained Cue Card sits at the head of the market for this year's contest after taking his first two starts over hurdles before losing out to leading Stan James Champion Hurdle contender Menorah in the Stanjames.com International Hurdle in December.

Tizzard plans to send his five-year-old for a racecourse gallop at Newbury on Friday to blow away any cobwebs before the festival.

Tizzard said: "I am going to ask Newbury if I can gallop him on Friday. He's very well."

Should Cue Card add the Supreme to his victory in the Wetherbys Champion Bumper at Cheltenham last year, Paddy Power will refund single and the win section of each-way bets placed on others runners in the race up to £200/€200.

Paddy Power spokesman Paddy Power said: "Much as we think Cue Card is close to being a stone-bonking certainty, we just can't resist giving it another bash for the third year on the trot.

"The law of averages suggests that one day we're going to be caught with our pants down, and when we do there won't be too many sympathetic shoulders to cry on!"

PP know time of day and though its very gimmicky, they know they got  chance with getting CC beat.
Most supreme winners are unexposed and show marked improvement in race, only need to look at Menorah last year.Favorites are favorites because they bring best form into race on what they showed on track to that point, that doesn't mean they best horse in race and may just catch a tartar.
There may well be up to 3 who could improve past CC on what they showed already.
Good luck anyone taking PP up on there kind gesture.

they love a bit of publicity do pp,although a worthy favourite their hardly going out on a limb with their offer given the amount of unexposed horses cue card will be up against, almost all with a 1 next to their names

If anyone can get to the PP shop they can have 11/4 enhanced price rather than 9/4 max bet £200. Was a big arb before the market shut at 12pm. With all the specials, NRNB and price enhancements they are overbroke on a number of races.

Personally I can't see what Dunguib did last year that Cue Card hasn't matched this term and also has cheltenham form from the current year. I reckon he will go off 6/4 on the day.

Of course you could look at it on the flipside that who is going to back Cue Card with Paddys now? Therefore Paddy take no money on Cue Card [;)] Also wouldnt it be great that rather than giving away millions they just too more than £40 on a 2-1 shot.
