Would it be best to drive to Birmingham and get the train to Cheltenham or drive into Cheltenham itself? Don`t want to spend hours in traffic.

Thanks.

Unless you intend missing the last race, steer well clear of the course car parks. If you would arrive at Cheltenham via the M5, one idea would be to leave you car at the Arle Court Park & Ride (just off the A40 on the outskirts of Cheltenham), take the bus into the town centre and walk to the course (about 30 minutes). Shank's pony is definitely the quickest way back into town after racing.

We always drive to Cheltenham from Birmingham and pay £10 to park the car in one of the private car parks on New Barn Lane (the road in to the course from Prestbury).

As long as your driver sticks to the legal limit of course.

If you aim to get there by 12 o'clock it should take around an hour and a quarter from Birmingham.

You'll be able to make a quick getaway after racing too.

It makes the day a bit shorter than travelling by train.

Like said before avoid the course car parks you will be there all night. Park in one of the "park your car for a tenner" spots. There are even houses that will let you park that are close to the course for a bit of cash.

Silvercoat has it cracked. There is a car park at one of the colleges we always used.About 10 min walk.Course car parks are a nightmare, it'll take at least an hour to get out.

Get a friend who has a spare parking spot 10 mins from the course
Cool

Cheltenham Rugby Club good for parking - quick pint in clubhouse, then 10 min walk to course.

The one time we parked in the Course Car Park it took just as long to get out the car park as it did to get to Beckhampton where we had digs - never again!!

Agree with ReaseHeath, we parked at the Rugby Club on Tommmy Taylors Lane, a 10 min walk (and I aint built for walking !) from the course and got away well enough after the last race on Tuesday last year, was home (8 Miles from Brum) by 6pm - Will be doing the same two weeks on Tuesday
