Heading to Cheltenham for one day this year, which enclosure would people recommend? Usually go Tatts, but wondering whether it would be worth splasing out on two Tatterstalls Grandstand tickets or a club enclosure ticket, or whether to just stick with the Tatterstalls?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Which day are you going?

Club, without question. You can always then nip into Tatts if the urge takes you. Better viewing etc,

Going Wednesday,

Suppose it goes without saying Club is going to be better than tatts, but would club be better over tatterstalls grandstand with a guaranteed seat?

I used to go in tatts until last year when went in Club on the Tuesday, the difference is well worth the money, would not go in tatts over club again

Tatts is awful, Best Mate for me

best mate for me too...... nowhere near as crowded as tatts and you can bypass the bars by using guiness tent/van, service is pretty quick considering.. not sure what it's like on GC day but first 3 days are pretty good and not to congested

Tatts plus a ****ss grandstand seat is much better value than club.

I bought a Best Mate ticket for Tuesday. It arrived in the post yesterday with a pink Club badge enclosed in the envelope. Result?

I go club, leave club before the last and watch it in Best Mate on the big screen.
Without fail I see a fight thre every day in the 15 mins or so I spend there, police everywhere, not being a  snob but I wouldn't want to spend a whole afternoon there.
I do watch a couple of races from the middle of the course (by last hurdle) and it's a good experience so I can imagine Best Mate being good viewing, I'd just prefer to avoid being stabbed or bottled....

if your going to do it do it right, the extra is well worth it.

Has anybody paid the extra £75 to reserve a seat in the Tatterstalls Grandstand? Is it worth it? Could probably afford it, but two tickets for an extra £150 seems like alot.

Horse 9.  We have been going to Best Mate for years and in all that time I have seen one person arrested after a minor scuffle.  There is so much snobby rubbish posted on here about Best Mate it's unbelievable.  Great view head on from the steep terrace and you get served quick enough in the mile long bar in the big tent.  Best value ticket in UK racing imo.

MW - no offence meant, I can only share my experiences and every day when I watch the last under the big screen in Best Mate I'll see someone dragged out by the police. Last year (Tue) some bloke (very p1ssed) got in a  fight and as he was being dragged out his wife/girlfriend was punching the 2 coppers !
I'm not suggesting everyone who goes there is scum but I think it attracts a larger share than other the enclosures.
As for viewing I agree

No offence taken H9.  Anyone who has been to the Scottish National will know that Best Mate in comparison is like the Royal Enclosure at Ascot.  Tend not to watch any races on the screen behind the stand and we are never that quick away (would love to say it's down to waiting to be paid out but it's usually drinking up and watching a replay of the last in the big tent).  It's like almost every big sporting event you care to mention there will always be a few idiots who spoil it for the majority.

Very true MW - I've seen similar behaviour in Tatts at Royal Ascot.
We stay out in Winchcombe and park in that big farmers field about 400 yards left out the course, so we look for a quick getaway.
Had two memorable experiences standing by that screen, Dunguib winning the bumper and Oulart winning the Pertemps final - wish I had a clue about this years bumper !

Tatt's is worse than 'Best Mate'.

I had been going since 1982, stopped after '06.
We were always in 'Members', which gave latitude.

Day 1 on Tuesday was the best for me.

I suggest get there very early, to see the 'Hall of Fame' and the rest of Cheltenham's treasures before you hit their savage prices in the bar's and eateries.

GL    There is no place quite like it!
