Is mad max a confirmed runner for the champion chase? i've just got a good feeling about this horse that should of won the arkle last year but made a bad mistake from the second last. probablys one of the biggest horses I have ever seen, its been out of form but sometimes comes good and 40/1 is massive e/w.

Id be concerned about his course form personally. I suppose The Grand Annual could also be an option, but if he were mine i would go straight to Aintree.

agree with bigben, i think he'l win a big race soon, just not at cheltenham. would definitely back him at aintree though

I have backed him at 33/1 e/w NRNB for the CC so hoping he skips the race. Simply not good enough and a weak finisher under pressure. Flat track and good ground at AIntree much more appropriate given he may still have some kind of breathing problem

Had a big voucher on Mad Max in last years Arkle, horrible mistake at 2nd last ended his chance and he was going better than anything.
Tried him over further this year and proved he doesn't really stay, disappointing 3rd at Ascot last time (long way behind) but I've always thought this is a Spring horse who likes better ground.
Last I heard his target was the Queen Mother and the 80s in here a few days ago was an insulting price, could go very well at huge odds but it is a very hot renewal IMO

Max Max:

We've tubed him since his last run. That's something we don't do very often but his wind has always been a problem. If this helps him you never know and he's a very good horse. Paul Carberry gets on very well with him and he could go for the Champion Chase. He worked on Wednesday and was very good.

An extract from Henderson - that 80 in here could be serious value....

I backed him in last year's Arkle too and he was going real well until he went through the second last. No better man than Paul Carberry to ride him either. I think he'll surprise a few in the Queen Mother.
