Good luck with it but don't think his form really stands up plus I'm still not that sure about the form of the stable who had the favourite for the Tote Gold Trophy run badly yesterday. If he wins well today then he's got an obvious chance but got a bit to find I guess.
Report Leonardo February 19, 2011 10:14 AM GMT
Just because WAlkon bounced, how can you say you query  the form of the stable ??Mille chief might get beat(I don't think he will).bit it will be sod all to do with the form of the stable....
Report booster February 19, 2011 10:29 AM GMT
Because I don't think they're all running well. They had a novice hurdler, Bless The Wings, travel really well then find nothing at the same course yesterday and haven't exactly been doing well at the top level for a couple of seasons to be fair. I alsoo think they may over rate their horses.
Report dwm767 February 19, 2011 10:40 AM GMT
Too much is made of the problems within the Alan King yard...he needs to stop making excuses and admit he's just not a very good trainer.
Report booster February 19, 2011 10:42 AM GMT
I think you may be right.
Report buddeliea February 19, 2011 11:18 AM GMT
trainer has really hyped up this horse, about time he lived up to that.A good victory today would certainly help.
Not for me though, and his CH price is madness!!
Report Masterminded February 19, 2011 12:41 PM GMT
Good luck mate this is Kings classiest horse but I quite fancy Overturn today.
Report eric_morris February 19, 2011 12:53 PM GMT
Overturn isnt going to like this ground, Mille Chief will love it and has Silviniaco to beat.
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 19, 2011 1:38 PM GMT
Buddeliea, all about opinion. The price that you state as being madness will look superb if the Chief beats these comfortably. I think it will, and I'm certainly hoping it does, to keep my hopes alive. If it doesn't win or is all out to do so then my CH dreams will become a nightmare.

Should the Chief win this very comfortably today then it really should be entitled to be single figures for the CH. As far as value goes, surely Mille Chief can't be bad value as it is far bigger than the very slow Peddlars Cross.
Report buddeliea February 19, 2011 1:40 PM GMT
very slowLaugh
Report eric_morris February 19, 2011 1:45 PM GMT
Bit short on trip for Silviniaco, Overturn not as good on the ground which Mille Chief will love, everything set up for him here if he cant win under these conditions he isnt a Champion Hurdle horse imo.
Report buddeliea February 19, 2011 1:47 PM GMT
Brownes,
i said the price was madness before todays race,i will give you my opinion on his price after todays race after he has run, later.
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 19, 2011 2:01 PM GMT
Bud....if he wins comfortably, 8-1..........all out, 14-1.............loses, any price you want..................laps them, 1-2!!
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 19, 2011 2:03 PM GMT
My reference to the 'very slow' Peddlars is a little unfair. Admirable horse but wouldn't be in the same parish as a Champion Hurdler; of course, time will tell.
Report buddeliea February 19, 2011 2:58 PM GMT
time will tell indeed, but we do know he aint slow.
Report buddeliea February 19, 2011 2:59 PM GMT
beating a speedster like starluck on a flat track tells us that
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 19, 2011 3:13 PM GMT
So on that basis are you telling me that Mr Thriller is quick?
Report evra February 19, 2011 3:51 PM GMT
no chance in the ch im afraid
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 19, 2011 3:54 PM GMT
It depends which way you look at it really. It bet two other hopefuls out of sight. Travelled kindly too. However, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed that it didn't pick up better than that. Also, at least it was a proper race unlike the pointless events winning at 1-7 etc.

20-1 shot for me now though.
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 19, 2011 3:56 PM GMT
I was pretty spot on with my 'all out 14/1 quote'. I am disappointed but it has demonstrated that it will at least be in there pitching.
Report evra February 19, 2011 3:57 PM GMT
how can bookies leave his price unchanged after that lack lustre effort?
incredible!!
Report booster February 19, 2011 3:58 PM GMT
Couldn't see that realistically in at the finish of the big one but remember Punjabi getting stuffed in the race when I'd already backed it for the Champion.
Report eric_morris February 19, 2011 3:59 PM GMT
Had a hard race there, may do a Walkon in the Champion? You could fancy him to trouble the front 4 really. Silviniaco and Overturn hated the ground there.
Report eric_morris February 19, 2011 4:00 PM GMT
You could not fancy him to trouble the front 4.
Report eric_morris February 19, 2011 4:01 PM GMT
Dunguib looked slow today imo.
Report buddeliea February 19, 2011 4:02 PM GMT
stick a 0 on the end of that BrownesLaugh
Report BJG February 19, 2011 4:02 PM GMT
Dunguib looked slow??
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 19, 2011 4:11 PM GMT
Bud, there so want to be laying it til the cows come home as you can still lay at 14s. I hope they do a match bet on the day with Mille and Peddlars....that is one race I'm convinced Mille will win.

Still in there with a shout mind but I have greened up as I was disappointed.
Report eric_morris February 19, 2011 4:11 PM GMT
Yes he didnt pull away from a mediocre opponent for pressure and he likes that ground. You could say that for Mille Chief also.
Report zilzal1 February 19, 2011 4:14 PM GMT
Think i'll be waiting until 5 mins after the Supreme to have a bet in the race this year
Report buddeliea February 19, 2011 4:18 PM GMT
just having a laugh with you mate.

i dont lay horses, just an old fashoioned backer, but i expect you will get a few that will help you out.
Report zilzal1 February 19, 2011 4:19 PM GMT
Dont know if it was all just the ground with Overturn, it was hardly good at Kempton when he raced against Binocular, could be a problem with the Barn
Report eric_morris February 19, 2011 4:20 PM GMT
Do they need to get workmen in?
Report zilzal1 February 19, 2011 4:27 PM GMT
Better to have a look at the old pipes ybm !!!!
Report neill d February 19, 2011 6:43 PM GMT
Luska Lad is a better horse around Gowran than anywhere else and is a real mudlark, thats the best I've seen Dunguib jump and the performance is better than it looks.
Report eric_morris February 19, 2011 7:00 PM GMT
Luska Lad looked like Solwhit without gears (and he doesnt have any).
Report sageform February 19, 2011 7:45 PM GMT
Mille Chief is 4lb worse than Celestial Halo on today's eveidence so that rules him out of the CH. Silviniano Conti hardly advertised Menorah's form either. Looks like Binocular against Peddlers Cross to me.
Report tomdeane February 19, 2011 7:56 PM GMT
Oscar Whisky certainly beat Celestial Halo a darn sight easier getting 4lb. Different trip of course but that run looks more solid now and he stands out to me as the value in the Champion.
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 19, 2011 7:57 PM GMT
Sageform, is that the Binocular that beat Overturn by 20 lengths less than Mille Chief or the Peddlers Cross that is 2 length better than Duke of Lucca?
Report eric_morris February 19, 2011 8:01 PM GMT
Menorah left Silviniaco standing tbh when the latter was in top form on ground he liked and scythed him down at half pace. Obvious the horse didnt like the ground and who knows may not have been as forward as Celestial Halo was ... can see Nicholls naffed off at the last hurdle mistake made by him think it inlikely he wouldnt have known their conditions today regardless of the market.
Report ReaseHeath February 19, 2011 8:52 PM GMT
the collateral form lines can obviously be misleading so, on today's evidence to my eye, Mille Chief does n't look good enough to win the Champion Hurdle and Dunguib still has four legs and a tail (did hurdle the last well).
Report sageform February 20, 2011 7:45 PM GMT
The Binocular that won the CH beating Celestial Halo and the Peddlers Cross that beat Binocular at Newbury. I can see Oscar Whisky having a chance though. Overturn didn't run to his form on Saturday.
