Trainer already stated he will be going for the new 2m4f Novice Race mate. Currently 8/1 and my nap of the week

oh right, cheers CCM.

Had a decent few quid on him for the Arkle last year
Still think that would be the best race for him... |
|
By:
was gonna say that, not sure its a wise choice to not go for the arkle.
|
|
By:
Especially when you probably need to be a 3m stayer to win this race...
|
|
By:
probably because the owners dont want 2 runners in the arkle
(his dad owns realt dubh) or vice versa |

I can't make this horse out??
He has some decent form. I'm afraid I thought he dodged the issue last time and is definitely one to lay short at Cheltenham especially when the whip is drawn..any where near him. Maybe top weight in the Novice Handicap would be a better route. |

By:
No doubt thats the reason brandy... but still think its the wrong decision! I'd have thought the other way around would give them the best chance of both winning as Realt Dubh looks the better stayer to me.

e/w double looks the bet

there were moments in both his races against Realt Dubh where Nobile Prince got outpaced. You can see it on the video tapes. I think stepping up in trip is the right thing to do tbh.

Back into 18's for the Arkle
![]() I will be seriously peeved if this has been the plan all along! |
|
By:
Ur not the only one CCM!!
|
|
By:
Looks like its the Arkle.
|

Doesnt look like that Cant Catch said on another thread he backed him antepost the Arkle ... looking to start a rumour? Looking to lay off naughty boy?
There was 2 quid matched at 18.5 and 3 quid asking to back at 200. |
|
By:
To put it in perspective there is 5 quid asking to back at 38 on Mikael D'Haguenet who is more likely to run in the RSA.

After last years about turn to the County Hurdle from the Coral Cup, it wouldnt surprise me in the slightest to see him revert to the Arkle (which to me looks the less competitive race this year anyway)

Would imagine its just a reaction to him being left in at the recent forfeit stage. Even though they are aiming him at the Jewson, I would guess they are leaving their options open in case the heavens open up and the ground is soft, in which case they may drop him back to 2 miles.
Shame as he is in my festival acca at 25/1 but realistically, with the same family owning Realt Dubh, if ground is good he's probably going to the Jewson :-( |
|
By:
Eric. How am I 'starting a rumour'? By merely stating the horses current odds ffs!
I was looking through the markets and saw the horse had come all the way back into 18, which seems odd considering the trainer has said he goies for the Jewson. I dont know how much it has taken to bring him back to this point, regardless of how much there is available now. I take marvinho's point, but it still seems very low to me if its just becuase this is the back up. |
|
By:
Probably just a reaction to him being left in at yesterday's scratching stage.
Presume he only runs in the Arkle if its very soft. |
|
By:
Yeah that seems to be the case down... I didnt realise so little was there either tbh....

I think the price shift was as a consequence of the forfeit stage of the arkle and most prices were shifted.I did himin the county last year and believe on evidence over fences that 2m 4f is needed. I too think hima banker assuming ground is not too testing. I have him at 10s..
