He's heading to the Gold Cup, connections have been saying this is his target for a while now. Re-iterated again yesterday by the trainer.

Anyone else think this could go for Grand National?

It would appear that the horse is now being ridden to suit his attitude ie they are purposely dropping him out and then hoping he will run on. In a Gold Cup, you simply cannot give the top horses that much ground, you will never make it up.
It didn't even work against Neptunes yesterday let alone Imperial, Denman, Kauto etc. May run on past beaten horses to be 6th or 7th but unless they try and keep up with the chasing pack (in the hope that he "join in"), I just cannot see it running into the places |

agree completley Alavarado.
the horse has never been put into its races until late on, i cant see why people have got it in their head that the horse cant jump! Okay, it might not jump with the same fluancy as a few of the other GC contenders, but what some are forgetting here is that Tidal is by far the classiest animal in the race and has never really been put into a kind of position to win its last 2 races. Prior to this season, and still by some General racing fans this season, iths thought that Tidal Bay just isn't good enough which i find completley unbelievable., We are talking about a Arkle winner here which destoyed its competition here with its speed. Its plain to see that Howard Johnson has had an obvious dilemma within the last few years with running into such horses such as Kuato & Denman over fences and to what they tried by taking on Big Bucks over hurdles. Brian Hughes is is probably the most underestimated jocky riding over fences today and i think hes got more of an idea about the horse in teh last 5 months than O Regan did in 2 years. on this seasons form its going to win this years Gold Cup, beating imperial into 2nd and Kuato or Long Run into 3rd. Good luck all , whatever your interest is , cant wait for that Friday ! |

The problems are in his head if he decides to put his head down and apply his ability he could hold a realistic chance of being involved in the finish wouldn't want to lay him at the current odds

if its comes up soft or worse then hes a player imo

His record on ground softer than good is very impressive

great point Magic, something i forgot to mention.
I've got a pal whos backed the horse in November and hes almost certain that they will use some type of head gear. There are just so many reasons on why the horse has a better chance of winning this Gold Cup than meets the eye. extra distance, possible headgear, the long run in which would be to his benefit, the stronger pace. There is also the possibility of Imperial getting lonely in front and to start idling if hes up there on his own coming around that last corner...thats if he runs and isnt pulled out[;)] lol |

ive been trying to get at least 10/1 on here in the place market since December and there has only been pennies available at 8s and 9s which i didn't this was good value at the time.
However, now at this point after saturday the 8s and 9s wold have been okay but you will be lucky to get 6s now....think everyone might be starting to accept the horse's class |

I really fancied this fella for the world hurdle last yr after his cleeve win and then he ran a stinker when he should surely have come at least second given where Time for Rupert finished, he's a rogue but a talented one at that, seems like a few on here are prepared to give him another chance, I'm inclined to agree but he really needs to be switched on to have any chance of placing...interesting runner for sure
