Totally agree but tbh I hate it when JP has more than one for a certain race. I wouldn't know where Prince of Pirates might end up running!?
By:
prince of pirates supreme? won over 2m didnt it? but still 55s in that
By:
The hurdle race he won at Cheltenham hasn't worked out too well with none of the losers coming out an winning since, but I haven't seen it to be honest so can't comment on the visuals.
That bumper he won looks good though with Bob's Worth and Captain Chris behind him. |
By:
I was thinking maybe Supreme.

he beat al ferof at cheltenham? i know hasnt been great since festival but surely a decent yardstick as 2nd to cue card over same distance. won a poor race with ease week or 2 back aswel so back on track it would seem. think POP had the beating of al ferof when the latter fell in that race anyway
By:
Didn't AP suggest he want's further than 2m after he won last time?
By:
Sorry, didn't see that Al Ferof was in that race, and yeah i agree he is a decent yard stick, albeit just short of top class.
Just watched the replay on Sportinglife and it would have been close if Al Ferof would have stayed up as POP looked very green on the run in - don't that is a Supreme or Neptune winning performance though |
By:
''he beat al ferof at cheltenham?''
Al Ferof FELL 2 out when in front. |
By:
still beat him though dident he
i agree POP needs to improve massively on his hurdle debut but he was very green and that bumper form is brillant intresting horse |
By:
yeh he beat him, and imo (and many others) POP was going better than Al Ferof and would have won anyway
By:
I agree POP would have won anyway.
By:
I do not think POP would have beaten Al at Cheltenham, though it was way too far out for any certain predictions. Also, we will see who turns out to be best, but most good judges I know took Bob's out of the Kempton bumper as a long term prospect, not POP.
By:
Agree too far out but POP was closing and closing and Al had been out in front a while. Ofcourse I can't say for definite as Al Ferof may have gone on again.
By:
considering how green he was i think u can expect a lot of improvment from POP and he readily saw off bobs worth first tume up obviuosly BW has improved but thats factored into the price ones 5-1 the others 50=1
By:
''still beat him though dident he''
LOL In a literal sense, yes....in any worthwhile form sense (the point here), no (unless you think Mon Mome beat Kauto Star in last year's Gold Cup and would back him to confirm the 'form') |
By:
bit different though duncan as we are of the opinion that POP had Al beaten before the fall, was going better. not saying would definitely won (i think al ferof will stay well) but with that viewpoint then he did beat him and formwise we'd assume the same

Would Kid Cassidy and Backspin be JP McManus' Supreme and Neptune horses?
By:
I would guess so atm. But you never really know. Prince of Pirates could end up running in the Coral Cup
By:
wel unless POP runs twice very quickly he cant run in the coral cup u have to have had 3 runs and id be gutted to see him in a h,cap then they obviously dont think hes that good
By:
sorry forgot about the 3 runs.
By:
Big Question is where will POP be entered?
By:
hopefully in both and then run in next few weks in a trial race to see which one
By:
i thought I'd bump this to the top of the forum - his price could tumble if he wins well at Kempton on Friday.
He only has one engagement at the Festival - the Neptune. His price has contracted today; only 16's with 365 and 25 on here. 40's with VC still available. Might have a couple of quid e/w with them as a shot in the dark, but would JP run him and Backspin in the same race?? |
By:
is he an intended runner through or being kept for Aintree? Seems a risk to run him with on about 10 days to the festival race.
By:
My thoughts as well to be honest.
Held fire with the 40's because I've got enough on Oscars Well. Might see if 33 NRNB might be available in the next few days, but would only be tiny stakes anyway |
By:
anyone know if minella class is still going for this ?
cant wait to POP back in action i do think aintree rather than cheltenham now though the times run out for the festival i think |
By:
This horse is a beast. Unfortunately poor Backspin dropped dead so POP could be very likely runner at the festival.
By:
I have my doubts about POP. As noted above, Bob's looked the better horse IMO in that excellent bumper.
By:
any news on this one ?
